New Equipment Alert

🚨 New Equipment Alert 🚨

Thanks to support from the Vanderburgh County LEPC (Local Emergency Planning Committee), our Hazmat Team has a new PID (Photoionization Detector). This advanced tool detects the presence of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) and other toxic gases which helps keep our community and firefighters safe.

The new detector will ride on Rescue 1, replacing a 20-year-old unit that could no longer be serviced. The LEPC is funded by Tier 2 reporting fees, which are paid by businesses that store hazardous materials.

That funding makes vital equipment like this possible!
