When people think of Albion, they often think of emergency shelter. While providing safe housing is a vital part of our mission, it's only one piece of the work we do every day.

One of Albion's core values is creating lasting impact. Our goal is not only to support survivors during and after a crisis, but also to address the systems, barriers, and stigmas that contribute to violence in our communities.

Through advocacy, education, support services, and access to resources, we work to disrupt cycles of violence and create opportunities for healing, safety, and long-term change.

If you or someone you know has questions or simply wants to learn more about the services Albion offers, please contact us at 812-422-9372. šŸ’œ

Our Crisis Intervention Volunteers provide support, resources, and a listening ear to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. With training and ongoing support from our team, volunteers help ensure no one has to face a crisis alone.

A few weeks ago, our Board members Jay, Jessica, and Casey stopped by Goldfinch Native Plant Nursery while working on Albion's native plant pollinator garden.

While there, they shared details about the project with Julie Smith, who was eager to learn more. She visited Albion on Thursday to tour and discuss ways we could work together.

We're grateful to share that Goldfinch Native Plant Nursery will be donating additional native plants and helping us explore grant opportunities to support the project.

We are so thankful for community partners like Julie and Goldfinch Native Plant Nursery, whose generosity and expertise helps us continue creating welcoming spaces for our clients and community!

We're excited to see how this partnership grows! 🌱

We are saddened to learn of the passing of our former board member, Lee C. Mortensen.

Lee’s father, Bruce J. Mortensen, played an integral role in Albion Fellows Bacon Center’s history. In the mid-1990s, Bruce served on our Board of Directors and helped facilitate the development of an annex that housed several of our offices, providing his expertise and services at cost. When Bruce learned that his time was limited, he asked his son, Lee, to continue his service to Albion. Lee graciously accepted, and we were honored to welcome him to our board.

Both Lee and his father served Albion with humility, kindness, and generosity. We were privileged to benefit from their leadership and dedication over the years.

Lee’s commitment to serving others extended far beyond his work with Albion. He was actively involved with numerous nonprofit organizations throughout our community, making a lasting impact on countless lives through his compassion and service. His contributions to Evansville and the people who call it home will not be forgotten.

Lee will be deeply missed by all of us at Albion Fellows Bacon Center, as well as by the many individuals and organizations whose lives he touched.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

View Lee C. Mortensen's obituary, send flowers, find service dates, and sign the guestbook.
