Happy birthday to the Father of our Nation! Today we celebrate the birthday of George Washington, the man who led the colonies to independence and set the tone for the presidency itself. At DAR Headquarters, Washington’s image is everywhere. In portraits, busts, bas reliefs, plates, and stained glass throughout Memorial Continental Hall and the Administration Building. He is, quite literally, woven into the very fabric of the DAR. This image of George Washington as a Freemason was donated to the Americana Collection by the Rockford Illinois Chapter. Today and every day, we are grateful for his service and his vision.
