📚 The Countdown is ON: The Summer Reading Roadshow is Heading Your Way! ✨
Get ready to flip the script on summer boredom! We are thrilled to introduce the Waterloo Schools Summer Reading Roadshow, a weekly pop-up adventure designed to keep our students reading, creating, and fueled up all summer long! 📖

Here is how the roadshow works every Tuesday from 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM:
🎨 The Story & The Craft: Each week, we’ll dive into a fantastic read-aloud book together. But, we don't just stop at the last page—we bring the book to life with a fun, hands-on activity or craft right on-site! ✂️
🍏 Free Lunch: We’ve partnered with the local Lunch Program to provide a delicious, free meal for the kids at every single stop!
📍 On the Move: The roadshow rotates to a different Waterloo Schools location every week, bringing the fun straight to your neighborhood! 🏫

We will be posting a special "Behind the Pages" preview right here every week so you know exactly where to find us, what we are reading, and what silly masterpiece we are building next. Make sure to check our page weekly for updates!

⚠️ Important Note: Children must be accompanied by a grown-up who will stay on-site for the duration of the 30-minute session. Activities take place outside at the front entrance of the buildings, and sessions will be canceled in the event of heavy rain.

Our COVID Kindergartners are officially moving on to middle school! 🎓

It’s hard to believe that this group started their school journey during one of the most unique times in education. From masks and virtual learning to finding their way through elementary school, they have shown resilience, flexibility, and determination every step of the way.

Today, we celebrated their accomplishments at our 5th Grade Graduation Ceremony. We are so proud of all they have achieved and the incredible young people they have become. While it’s hard to say goodbye, we can’t wait to see all the amazing things they accomplish in middle school and beyond.

Congratulations, Class of 2033! Once a COVID kindergartner, always a Poyner kid. 💜🎓✨

☀️🏃‍♀️🍎 Today was our Relay Recess event! Students spent the afternoon learning about important healthy habits, including nutrition, physical fitness, sun safety, and the dangers of to***co use. Through fun activities and hands-on learning, they discovered ways to make healthy choices and take care of their bodies every day.

Plus, some of our students had the opportunity to pie a staff member as part of the fun! 😆🥧 There were lots of laughs, smiles, and memories made while supporting a great cause.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this educational and active event a success! 💜

Our creative 4th graders put their engineering and teamwork skills to the test with an exciting science project! 💡⚙️

Each group combined their individual hobbies and interests to design and build a unique stage complete with movement and lights. From brainstorming ideas to creating working designs, students used creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration every step of the way.

The results were amazing! It was so much fun seeing their personalities shine through their projects while exploring science, technology, and engineering concepts in a hands-on way. Great job, 4th graders! 👏✨🎭

🌟 Staff Spotlight: Ms. Aleina Hansen 🌟

This is Ms. Hansen’s first year at Poyner, where she works as an assistant in the media center! 📚✨ One of the things she enjoys most about Poyner is the positive environment and being part of such a supportive school community. 💙💛

Ms. Hansen shared that her dad was the inspiration behind her decision to work in the education field — a reminder of how meaningful role models can be. ❤️
