Ms. Flynt’s class is on FIRE! By completing the flame test lab, the classes explored how electron transitions shift metal atoms between ground and excited states- and how those jumps dictate the wavelength, frequency, and energy of emitted photons. Our students seemed to enjoy a lesson that let them play with fire! Way to go, Ms. Flynt! Keep doing what you do!

The first HOSA sponsored blood drive of the year is fast approaching! All students who donate must be at least 16 years or age, 110 pounds, and have a signed parental permission form in order to donate. Shepeard provides Chick-fil-a biscuits to all students who sign-up to donate, and all donors receive a free t-shirt. Each donation has the potential to save three local lives. GHS is also the second largest high school in terms of donations in Shepeard's region (Most of Georgia and parts of South Carolina). The Pack saves lives!

This first drive is also on the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Under the leadership of BOSN Singleton and Master Guns Bartasavich, our JROTC program will be honoring the fallen, survivors, first responders, civilians, and military personnel and veterans affected by the events of the 9/11 attacks and the aftermath. It's a somber tribute for The Pack to serve our community in a meaningful and necessary way on such a significant day.

*Students should not donate if they have an athletic event within 24 hours of donating. That means any students that have a role during the Friday night lights should not donate (Football, Cheer, Band, etc.). *

Cyber News: Recently our Cyber Teams Competed in a Department of War Sponsored National Capture the Flag Cyber Competition. Greenbrier HS had a Clean Sweep, taking 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place! Greenbrier took the top 3 spots on the podium - defeating 32 other teams - including last year's champion Alliance STEM Academy of Atlanta!

Do What You Do: Teacher Tuesday

It's that time of the week and today we are putting a spotlight on Ms. Chasie Gerlach, one of our incredible Science teachers! Ms. Gerlach creates a classroom that has a positive environment, where students get to know each other and are never scared to approach Ms. Gerlach with questions. Ella Prince (11) said, "Ms. Gerlach is one of my favorite teachers because she makes learning fun and explains the information until your truly understand. She is also a very sweet and kind person, which is one of the reasons I took AP Environmental. I knew that she would be a great teacher and I would learn a lot."

You are wonderful, Ms. Gerlach! Keep doing what you're doing!
