💲EVANS BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT - Frida Café Bar & Grill

Food is best when it’s rooted in tradition, cooked with heart and pays homage to generational recipes. These are the founding principles of Frida Café Bar & Grill on 37th Street in Evans.

Founded by Enrique Canto and co-owned by Ruben C. Escalera, Frida Café Bar & Grill serves both Mexican and American dishes from a surprisingly expansive menu. The authentic Mexican dishes are drawn from recipes and traditions passed down from Canto’s grandmother.

Named after the famed Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, you will find many reproductions of her work on display at Frida Café Bar & Grill. When asked about the connection to and admiration of Kahlo, Escalera responded that her work reminds him that “the hardest things can become something beautiful.”

The menu features a wide variety of options for breakfast lunch and dinner. Breakfast offerings include traditional American breakfasts, breakfast burritos, a breakfast quesadilla, pancakes, waffles, omelets, breakfast skillets, breakfast tortas and their signature Chilaquiles Frida (pictured).

Lunch options include salads, twelve different hamburger offerings, sandwiches, as well as traditional Mexican menu items such as tacos, smothered burritos, chimichangas, quesabirria tacos, enchiladas, chili relleno, tortas and more.
The dinner menu is also expansive, including chicken fried steak, rib eye steak, roast beef dinner, pork chops and fried fish.

Frida Café Bar and Grill has a full liquor license, and carries a selection of beer, wine, margaritas and much more. Check out the cantarito, which mixes tequila, fresh orange, lime, and grapefruit juices, topped with grapefruit soda, and served in a traditional clay cup.

Frida’s also offers catering for events and has a food truck permanently located at 102 N. 8th Avenue in Greeley.
Stop in, say hello and grab some delicious food for breakfast, lunch or dinner!

💧🌱 It’s not just how much you water your lawn but how you water it that makes the biggest difference. 🌱💧

Making the most out of every drop starts with watering smarter, not watering more.

The City of Evans encourages residents to use efficient watering practices that help maintain healthy landscapes while reducing unnecessary water waste during the summer months.
✅ Water during the early morning or evening hours
✅ Use “cycle and soak” watering to reduce runoff
✅ Adjust sprinkler run times based on the type of sprinkler head you use
✅ Avoid overwatering; more water doesn’t always mean a healthier lawn
✅ Check your system regularly for leaks, overspray, or broken heads

Proper timing and scheduling can also significantly reduce evaporation during hot summer days.
Efficient irrigation helps protect our water resources, keeps utility costs down, and supports a healthier community landscape.

Remember: watering restrictions are currently in effect through October 15. Watering is prohibited between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. during the declared drought emergency.

💦 Smart watering = healthier lawns, lower waste, and better use of every drop.

🔥🐾 HOT WEATHER IS HERE — KEEP YOUR PETS SAFE! 🐾🔥

🚗 Never leave your pet in a parked vehicle. Even when temperatures outside seem mild, the inside of a car can become dangerously hot in just minutes:
☀️ 70°F outside = 90°F+ inside a vehicle in minutes
☀️ 85°F outside = 100°F+ inside a vehicle in about 10 minutes

Leaving an animal inside a hot vehicle can quickly become life-threatening and constitutes animal cruelty under Colorado law, which may result in fines and/or jail time.

🐶 Don't forget about hot pavement! Sidewalks, asphalt, and parking lots can become hot enough to burn your dog's paws. Before heading out for a walk, place the back of your hand on the pavement for a few seconds. If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your pet's paws. Consider walking during the early morning or evening hours when surfaces are cooler.

📞 If you see an animal trapped inside a hot vehicle, call 9-1-1 immediately and remain near the vehicle until law enforcement arrives.

Let's work together to keep our pets safe, healthy, and comfortable during the summer heat. 💙🐾
