Today, we pause to honor and remember the life and sacrifice of a fallen law enforcement officer who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and fellow Officers during this heartbreaking time. His courage, dedication, and commitment to protecting others will never be forgotten.

May we all take a moment to remember the dangers our law enforcement officers face each and every day while serving their communities.

Gov. Henry McMaster has issued a state of emergency for South Carolina ahead of a winter storm that could lead to significant impacts in the state.

Governor McMaster issued the executive order for the emergency late this afternoon. According to the governor’s office, the executive order activates the South Carolina Emergency Operations Plan, allowing state agencies to mobilize resources more quickly as conditions develop.

The order also authorizes the South Carolina National Guard to activate personnel and prepare equipment for potential deployment, while enabling state and local emergency management officials to begin coordinating response efforts. We will post more updates on the situation as they become available.
