Cathy Brown didn't know anyone when she started a Rafiki Bible Study at her church in New Smyrna Beach.

Now it's one of the most connected groups in her congregation—new believers and longtime Christians studying, praying, and growing together. One woman in the group had never even opened a Bible before joining. Now she's a believer in Christ.

Access to God’s Word is at the heart of Rafiki’s mission. Through partners like Crossway, we are grateful for opportunities to place Bibles in the hands of pastors, teachers, and students across Africa. Rafiki Missionary Bryan writes:

“We thank God for Rafiki’s partnership with Crossway!

Today, more than 8,000 Bibles were passed along to a Crossway ministry partner in Malawi as a part of the 36,000 Bibles sent here as donations for Rafiki and other trusted partners. We look forward to starting our Rafiki Bible Study TOT (Teachers of Teachers) trainings, Lord willing, in the next couple of months, so that we can begin distributing the more than 12,000 Bibles gifted to Rafiki Foundation Malawi from Crossway.”

Recently, Rafiki Foundation Executive Director Karen J. Elliott, Director of Facilities, Services, and Outreach Steve Kranz, and Kenya missionaries Dave and Julie Pederson traveled to Wau, South Sudan, to meet with The Most Reverend Abraham Yel Nhial, Archbishop of Northern Bahr El Ghazal Internal Province, and The Most Reverend Matthew Remijio Adam Gbitiku, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Wau.

During their visit, the team received a warm welcome from church leaders and visited Sunday Primary and Secondary School and Pion Tok (“One Heart”) Primary and Secondary School in the Wau East Archdeaconry.

The visit marked Rafiki’s first time in South Sudan and provided an opportunity to explore ways to come alongside the Diocese of Wau and the Northern Bahr El Ghazal Internal Province. Discussions included how Rafiki might support schools within the Diocese by providing learning materials and other essential resources.

Please pray for these conversations, for the schools and students, and for the Lord’s leading as Rafiki explores how it might serve the Church in South Sudan. May God’s hand be evident as His Church grows in South Sudan.

At the Rafiki Village Nigeria, Shakiyla and Ishaku have the joy of watching God shape the next generation through Christ-centered education and daily discipleship.

Praise & Prayer:

🙏 Praise God that students are being equipped academically, spiritually, and biblically to serve Christ in their churches and communities.
🙏 Pray that God would grow students in wisdom, spiritual maturity, and an unwavering trust in him.
🙏 Praise God for his protection over Shakiyla and Ishaku and for the peace he has given them as they faithfully serve through every season.

God is faithfully at work in the Rafiki Village Nigeria, and you can be part of that work through prayer.

More Bibles are making their way into the hands of young people in Africa! 📖

In Rwanda, Rafiki Missionaries had the privilege of distributing 150 Bibles to youth at a conference as they prepare to return to school.

The students were encouraged from God’s Word to train themselves for godliness (1 Timothy 4:7). As they study these Bibles, join us in prayer that they will grow in godliness and shine as lights for Christ as they return to school next week.

What a joy to see God’s Word reaching the next generation!

In Liberia, five Episcopal schools within the Episcopal Church’s secretariat visited with Rafiki Missionaries as they work to strengthen their school system, beginning with early childhood education. This partnership is opening the door for a week of training focused on equipping teachers and strengthening the foundation of education for Liberia’s children.

We thank God for this wonderful relationship and the opportunity to serve alongside these schools and anticipate what God will do!

What would you do if you had no home, no steady income, and no idea where to find your next meal?

What if your husband had died, leaving you to care for your children alone? What if your children could not go to school because you could not afford it?

For some of the women in Rafiki’s Widows Program, these are not hypothetical questions. This is their reality.

But these women are not defined by what they lack. Through the Widows Program, these women are given opportunities to work, earn an income, provide for their families, and build a more secure future for their children.

Your purchase from the Rafiki Exchange can help make that possible.

Behind every handwoven basket, quilt, piece of jewelry, and other handmade item is a woman who is working to care for her family with dignity and hope. Shop the Rafiki Exchange and be part of a woman’s story of rebuilding.

Thousands of Bibles are being placed into the hands of church leaders in Kenya!

This week, Executive Director Karen Elliott and Outreach Manager Steve Kranz are at Kabarak University in Nakuru, Kenya, for the Anglican Church of Kenya’s All Clergy Conference. They will help distribute 5,000 Reformation Study Bibles to pastors and church leaders!

We are grateful to be serving alongside Ligonier Ministries, whose team provided the Bibles and is helping with the distribution. This partnership has made it possible for thousands of pastors and seminarians across Africa to receive trusted, gospel-centered resources for studying and teaching God’s Word.

Rafiki is also bringing Rafiki Bible Study materials, Sunday school resources, curriculum samples, and Bible commentaries to share with the Anglican Church of Kenya.

Please pray for the conference, the participants, and the Bibles and resources being placed into the hands of those who will use them to teach God’s Word to the next generation. May the Lord use his Word to strengthen his Church in Kenya!
