Press Release
August 26, 2026
On August 25, 2026, Eureka County Dispatch received a call from Eureka Elementary School. Eureka Elementary informed Dispatch that they had just received a call about a threat to the school. Eureka County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrived on scene within minutes of the call from the school. Eureka Elementary and High School were then placed on a lockdown to ensure the safety of the students.
ECSO worked with Nevada State Police, Nevada Division of Investigation, and White Pine Sheriff’s Office to make sure there was no threat to our children and community. When it was deemed there was no longer a threat, the schools were removed from lockdown. All Law Enforcement stayed in the area until the students were let out for the day.
ECSO treats any threat to our children and community as our top priority. ECSO will exhaust all avenues to find the person responsible, and Eureka County will prosecute them. ECSO is working with Nevada Division of Investigation to locate this subject or subjects that made this swatting call. This investigation will be ongoing, and ECSO will provide updates as progress is made on this case.
ECSO would like to thank Nevada Department of Transportation, Nevada Division of Investigation, White Pine Sheriff’s Office, Elko County, Eureka EMS, Eureka County School District, and Nevada State Police. We are honored to have these agencies as our partners.
