3/22 – Report of a suspicious person in Severy. Deputy responded and found the person to, indeed, be acting suspiciously as we have had numerous interactions with them based on their behavior

3/1 – Report from a neighboring county of a heavily intoxicated and possibly combative individual driving a vehicle into our county. While deputies were responding, the subject was located in the neighboring county
3/1 – Report of a disturbance in Madison. Deputy responded and arrested Tyler Short for felony criminal damage to property. Investigation also revealed sexual offenses that occurred in a different county.
3/1 – Report of a horse out and/or about in the area of K99 Hwy near Madison
3/1 – Report of an altercation at a business in Eureka. Deputy responded and discovered verbal threats were made, however none of the victims wished to cooperate with prosecution
3/2 – 911 hang up call in Madison. Determined to be a child playing with a phone

3/2 – Deputy stopped a vehicle and arrested John Band Jr for offender registration violation, driving while suspended, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia

3/7 – Several Deputies in a neighboring county to attempt to apprehend a fugitive

Arrangements were then made for the child to remain with a friend due to the parental inebriation

Introducing the newest member of the Greenwood County Sheriff's Office! On January 23rd, after 3 weeks of K9 certification training, Sgt Mike Cordell and K9 Kraken became a certified team. Kraken, a Belgian Malinois, is certified in narcotics detection, apprehension, tracking/trailing, article searches, and obedience.

I would like to give a special thanks to Matt Wilson of Eureka, and Larry & Sherry DeWitt of Madison for their generous donations to the Greenwood County Sheriff's Office K9 fund. We value our close partnership with our community and look forward to continuing to provide the best service we can!

K9 Kilo has officially retired after approximately 7 years on the road and has left active service with the Sheriff's Office.

1/23 – Deputy arrested Kim Higbee for a warrant for burglary and theft as well as new charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, and felony interference with law enforcement

1/23 – Deputy stopped a vehicle in Madison and arrested Clifton Kinney for aggravated domestic battery stemming from a previous call

1/28 – Commercial burglar alarm at a bank in Eureka. Deputies responded and determined it was accidental
