At its June 23 meeting, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors honored Humboldt County Transition Age Youth Collaboration (HCTAYC) founding collaborator and youth trainer Jamie Lee Evans for the time she has dedicated to HCTAYC. Evans helped launch HCTAYC in 2008 with the goal of empowering young people with lived experience to transform foster care, juvenile justice, mental health and homelessness services systems. Over nearly two decades, Evans has connected Humboldt County youth to numerous leadership opportunities, growing HCTAYC into a powerful, award-winning voice for systems change.

In her final event with the program, Evans will be working with youth on how to tell their stories and helping them prepare to have photography on display during HCTAYC’s pop-up gallery. The event will be open to the public Friday, June 26, from 2 to 5 p.m., at the Schlueter Gallery, 330 Second St. in Eureka.
