Middle school can be a challenging time for many students. However, while our middle-schoolers are going through so many changes, they shouldn’t also have to struggle with learning or navigating the challenges of everyday middle school life.

That's why the Rockwood School District has developed an asynchronous Canvas course called "Middle School Ready" to help students become more comfortable with Canvas (the online tool that middle and high school students use to access lesson materials and submit work) and learn strategies to build confidence and prepare them for middle school in Rockwood.

Rising Marquette High senior Ayush Vasireddy earned a second-place award at the 76th annual Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), placing him among the top 2 percent of ISEF chemistry projects worldwide! Ayush, who earned his spot by being one of two winners at the Academy of Science - St. Louis Honors Division Fair in February, also won three Special Awards at the ISEF.

His research project title: "A Cost-Effective Hierarchical Bimodal Nanoporous Gold Sensor for the Electrochemical Detection of Bisphenol F." Way to go, Ayush!

Congratulations to recent Rockwood graduates Oliver Arett, Madhav Devapal and Hannah Holder of Lafayette High and Sowmya Erukulapati of Marquette High, who are among the first round of this year’s College-Sponsored National Merit Scholarship winners!

More than 2,500 college-sponsored scholarship winners were announced June 3, with an additional group being named in July to bring the total to about 3,500. Rockwood’s four honorees are among only 52 college-sponsored scholarship winners from the state of Missouri announced in the first round. So far, nine Rockwood graduates have earned 2026 National Merit scholarships.

Lilly Preston - a 2026 Eureka High graduate - and her father, Scott, were recently interviewed on Fox2Now about their family's new children's book, "The Traveling Hippo!"

Lilly did many of the illustrations for the book, which also doubles as a travel companion for families.

Representatives from all of our Rockwood schools met at Wildwood Middle on May 28 for discussions in crafting their Building School Improvement Plans (BSIPs).

The teams reviewed data from their schools pertaining to goal areas in the Forward Together strategic plan and, with support from cabinet members, curriculum coordinators and data analysts, concluded the day with draft goals and action plans to guide their work for the 2026–2027 school year. Congratulations to the 12U Summit lacrosse team - featuring Rockwood South Middle students - which earned the St. Louis Youth Lacrosse Association division championship with only one loss all spring! Their hard work, teamwork and determination showed every time they stepped on the field.
