Hello good people, Todd here again, quick topic of discussion, do you know what to look for and what to do in response to an overdose ? I'm sure we have all seen the commercials about the use of Narcan, but, do you know how to use it if you have it ? In 2024 there were nearly 80.000 deaths in the Us. In Montana in 2024 there were 170 deaths.....these horrible numbers and many of these are our youths. Please take the time to think about this and educate your kids about drug usage and the effects it has. The drug Fentanyl is the main drug we see anymore with He**in, M**h to only name a few. Studies show these overdoses here in Montana happen mostly in rural communities among the youth and younger adults. The drug of choice in Lincoln Co is M**hamphetamine with Fentanyl use on the rise.
With this said, we as citizen's need to be more aware, prepared and able assist when the time is needed. The signs of an acute overdose slowed or stopped breathing, a patient can be in raspatory arrest and still have a pulse. Pts can also be showing signs of confusion, vomiting, choking sounds, skin color can be pale, clammy, or bluish on lips and fingertips, pupils can be pin point and over all body can be limp and unresponsive. These are a few of the main signs of an overdose, overdoses can include prescription drugs and alcohol as well as street drugs. Remember, you CANNOT sleep off a overdose !!!!!!!!! Please render aid quickly if you suspect a person has overdosed and of course call 911 !
Narcan can be obtained locally, Contact local Heath Department,, drug stores or your Physician. Training on the usage of Narcan is available. Todd

Happy Sunday Morning ! Todd here with a new topic of discussion.....actually I have many but todays topic is an answer to a question I keep getting asked. What is it like to be an EMT? Well, lets talk about it ! Many years ago in 2000 a friend of mine talked me into joining the local service back home where I was living. It tool some doing as being a EMT was not something I had ever really aspired to do. In the many years that followed I gained more from being in the service than doing anything else. Its not only a brotherhood, but I learned so much more than the job itself, I learned a lot about myself in doing so. It has been next to family life, the most fulfilling thing Ive ever done and hands down the best thing for me personally. Does it fit everyone....simply said, no it does not. I can tell you the job itself will mold you, teach you and give you more than you can imagine. So, with that said, being an EMT means you serve not only yourself, but your community making a difference in many lives in ways you never dreamed possible. Being an EMT means being up at night in all kinds of weather seeing doing things nobody else does and all the while finding your self. We make runs here that can last from minutes to hours, an average run here to local er means at least four hours to complete. Upon returning, the ambulance is cleaned, restocked, patient care reports are completed and then your done.......yes its a lot but I can promise you its well worth it. So, with that said look within yourself, think about it and come see us, do have what it takes? We have a class nearing completion, this means we are taking names to fill a new class in the fall.....classes are one evening and a weekend day, class work and hands on training with real equipment and certifications and training support you wont find anywhere else. We are a one stop shop for training and its done right here in Eureka ! Call, stop in or message today for more details ! Todd
