The cure for apathy isn't a plan.

It's not a meeting. It's not a study. It's not a comprehensive strategy.

It's action.

Small, visible, tangible action. Pull the weeds. Paint the building. Plant the flowers. Fix the broken window. Clean the sidewalk.

Every time someone takes action in a community, something shifts. Not just in the place itself, but in the people watching. They see that progress is possible. They see that someone gives a damn. And slowly, they start to give a damn too.

Action is contagious. Apathy is too. Choose wisely.

💧 NOTICE TO LAGRANGE AREA WATER CUSTOMERS

There was a structure fire in the LaGrange community last night, and firefighters had to pull a significant amount of water from the system while responding to the fire.

The increased flow may have stirred up sediment in the water lines, which could result in temporarily discolored water for some customers.

City crews will be monitoring the system and flushing lines as needed. If you experience discolored water, please report it to City Hall, or comment here, so we know which areas may need additional flushing.

We appreciate your patience and understanding, and we are grateful to the firefighters who responded to protect our community. 💧

👷🏼‍♂️Eupora, we need your voice! Please add your support in the comments! ‼️

The City of Eupora is moving forward with our application for the Mississippi Main Street Revitalization Grant Program to help acquire and restore the historic Flatiron Building downtown.

The application will be submitted this Friday, September 11, and one of the strongest things we can show is that this project matters to the people who live here.

So we are asking you to help us make that case.

WHAT WOULD IT MEAN TO YOU TO SEE THE FLATIRON BUILDING RESTORED AND BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE?

What could this building become for Eupora?

A place for new businesses? Community events? Visitors? Public gathering space? A catalyst for more investment downtown? Or simply the restoration of one of the most recognizable buildings in our community, and arguably, the State of Mississippi.

Maybe you have memories of the Flatiron Building. Maybe you care deeply about preserving Eupora’s history. Maybe you are excited about what this could mean for the future of out City.

Tell us in the comments.

We plan to include public feedback from this post in our grant application to demonstrate the level of community support behind this project.

So don’t just hit “like.”

Leave us a comment. Tell us why this matters. Tell us what you would love to see happen here. Tell us what memories you have of this building and then SHARE THIS POST!

Every voice helps us tell Eupora’s story.

Let’s show Mississippi that Eupora is ready to invest in our history, our downtown, and our future.

Eupora youth… this one is for YOU. 🫵🏾🫵🏽🫵🏻

Not your parents.
Not the businesses.
Not the adults in the room.

YOU.

Where do you spend your free time?

Where would you spend your time if we had more options in Eupora?

What would you change if adults really listened to you?

What do you want to see happen in Eupora?

What would make our community better for kids and teenagers?

What activities, events, programs, spaces, or opportunities do you wish we had?

What are your lifelong goals, and what opportunities could help you reach them?

The City of Eupora and The SouthWay Foundation are bringing young people together to form a Youth Committee, to give our youth a seat at the table.

We don’t just want you to show up and listen.

We want your ideas.
We want your opinions.
We want to hear what YOU think Eupora needs.

You don’t have to be the most popular kid.
You don’t have to be an athlete.
You don’t have to be an honor student.
You don’t have to already be involved in something.

If you call Eupora home, and you are within the ages of 13-18, there’s room for your voice.

🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day from the City of Eupora! 🇺🇸

Labor Day is more than a day off. It is a day to recognize the folks whose labor has built our country, sustained our communities, and provided for generations of families.

It is also a reminder that the progress working people enjoy today did not come easily, and that there is still work to be done. Fair wages, safer workplaces, reasonable hours, weekends, and basic protections were won through generations of workers standing up for the dignity and value of their labor.

And we also recognize that not everyone who wants to work is able to do so. Illness, disability, caregiving responsibilities, economic circumstances, and many other realities can shape a person’s ability to participate in the workforce.

Labor Day is about honoring the dignity of work while remembering that the dignity of every person extends far beyond a job title or paycheck.

Here in Eupora, we are grateful for everyone who shows up every day, provides for their family, serves their neighbors, and keeps our community moving forward.

In observance of Labor Day, Eupora City Hall and City departments are closed today. Normal operations will resume tomorrow.

Today, we honor the worker. 🇺🇸
