First day back to school is tomorrow, so please be aware of the increased traffic. We will have officers directing school traffic, so pay attention to the new school hours for the elementary school. We want everyone to arrive safely to their destination, so drive safe, obey the speed limit, and be prepared to stop when directed.

As we come to the end of the summer, we would like to share the photos from our Annual Youth Summer Camp. We had a great week interacting with some returning youth from our Innaugural Camp last year, as well as several new campers.

Our goal this year was to educate our youth campers on being a productive member of the community, by helping others that may not be as fortunate as they are to have shelter and food whenever they need it. We heard personal stories of drug addiction and how that relates to committing crimes, to recovery and leading a successful non-profit that helps others get out of addiction. We completed two service projects that can make a difference for the citizens of Bartow County.

We are extremely grateful to our lunch sponsors for each day of Summer Camp:
Pop's General Store in Taylorsville
El Nopal Mexican Restaurant of Cartersville
Scott's Walk-up Bar-B-Q in Cartersville
Glenda Mitchell Law Firm (Firehouse Subs)
Texas Roadhouse in Cartersville

We are also very grateful for our partner Euharlee Creek Outfitters for a great day on the Etowah River. That is usually the highlight of the week for the youth.

If you are a youth between the ages of 13 to 18, or you have a child that would be interested in becoming a part of our Youth Summer Camp family, our next Annual Youth Summer Camp will be June 14-18, 2027. We will have to cap off our registrations at 15 applicants, but if we double the applications, then we will add an additional week of camp. If you have any questions about our next camp, please reach out to Chief Matthews at [email protected] .

🌑️ Extreme Heat Reminder

With dangerously hot temperatures in the forecast, please take a few minutes to check on elderly neighbors, family members, and others who may be at higher risk for heat-related illness.

A few simple reminders:
β˜€οΈ Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
🏠 Limit time outdoors during the hottest part of the day.
🧒 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing if you must be outside.
πŸš— Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle, even for a short time.

Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, and don't hesitate to seek medical attention if someone becomes confused, loses consciousness, or stops sweating.

For additional heat safety tips, visit:
https://www.piedmont.org/blog/heat-safety-101-how-to-stay-safe-in-extreme-summer-heat

During this period of extreme heat, let's all look out for our elderly neighbors, those with medical conditions, and others who may be more vulnerable. A simple phone call or knock on the door can make a big difference.

Summer is a great time to get outside, but when temperatures climb, it’s easier than you think to get overheated or dehydrated.

The members of the Euharlee Police Department are deeply saddened about the passing of Counciman Joe Turner. Councilman Turner was a huge supporter of our police department and the men and women that serve in it. We are grateful for his dedicated service as a Firefighter and his many years he has devoted to the employees and the Citizens of Euhalree.

We are always grateful for the men and women that serve in the Bartow County Sheriff's Office E 9-1-1 Center. They are the calming voice in a hysterical situation when you have to call 9-1-1. They have patience, and a strong heart for the community we serve. Please share your kind words for those who chose to answer that call, and often receive little recognition for the great job that they do.

Good morning, Facebook followers.

We are aware of a recent anonymous social media post regarding a traffic stop involving our police department. We take these concerns seriously and want to provide accurate information.

No one has been taken into custody on an alleged false warrant. In the incident referenced, the vehicle was stopped for a probable cause reason, and the driver was arrested for reasons unrelated to a warrant. The driver was given the opportunity to contact someone to retrieve the vehicle but was unable to do so.

We understand the importance of transparency; however, anonymous or secondhand accounts may not always reflect the full or accurate details. For verified information, we encourage the public to contact our department directly.

The Euharlee Police Department is a State Accredited Law Enforcement Agency. All officers utilize body and vehicle cameras, and we have a formal complaint process in place. Every complaint is taken seriously and fully investigated.

Anyone with concerns is encouraged to contact the department or file a written complaint so it can be reviewed and documented. Please feel free to share this information.
