Introduction
Experiencing losses in the context of unclear or undefined cultural expectations for grief can be difficult and can affect the way that individuals cope and grieve, making it difficult to move through the stages of grief and to find acceptance or resolution after the loss. No instrument currently exists to measure these types of losses across different experiences. This study will test such a scale with participants who have experienced birth parent loss as adoptees, with the goal of testing the scale with participants reporting other ambiguous losses in the future.

Purpose
The purpose of this study is to test the validity of this scale with people who have experienced birth parent loss as adoptees. Participants will be asked to answer the items on this scale as well as demographic questions and questions that will be used to assess the validity and reliability of the scale. Anyone who was adopted before age 12 to a family living in the U.S. is welcome to take part in this study.

Project
The research team invites you to complete the online survey. The survey will ask about your experiences with birth parent loss. Participation in the survey is completely voluntary.

Time
The online survey will take about 10 minutes to complete

Thank you Congressman Bryan Steil (R WI-1) and Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (R IL-9) for co-sponsoring the Adoptee Citizenship Act of 2019.

The Adoptee Citizenship Act will provide automatic acquisition of United States citizenship for certain internationally adopted individuals. It would in part close the loophole for most adult adoptees who do not currently benefit from the Child Citizenship Act of 2000.

Please ask your congressional members to support the Adoptee Citizenship Act. (S.1554/ H.R. 2731)

We want to be sure that adoption and foster care are not forgotten as the federal government moves forward with the next round of legislation. States are already experiencing significant budget shortfalls and we need to be sure that child welfare...

Jodi Gill and Derek Fisher are working on a guide that uses the experiences of Korean Adoptees that have gone back to meet biological family members to help those in the future that will embark on the same journey.
They are in the last stages of finishing the guide and need help to send this link to anyone you might know that went back to Korea with the intent to meet birth family.
