Oregon Social Learning Center

Oregon Social Learning Center A nonprofit organization dedicated to researching social and psychological processes related to healthy development and family functioning.

The Oregon Social Learning Center is a non-profit, research center dedicated to increasing the scientific understanding of social and psychological processes related to healthy development and family functioning. We value high-quality scientific research that powerfully and positively impacts the well-being of children and families through informing parents, professionals and policy makers. We are

the first behavioral center to treat the family as a unit rather than focus on each member individually. The Oregon Social Learning Center scientists have received national and international awards in recognition of their contributions to theory, prevention and treatment. The Oregon Social Learning Center has worked with a wide variety of funding agencies including: the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, United Way and the Springfield, South Lane and Bethel school districts. OSLC has more than 20 researchers with diverse interest in projects but they share common objectives: strengthening children and family.

We are pleased to share that T.H.E Van was featured in the Lookout Eugene-Springfield in an article that makes clear what a gap in services for unhoused youth Mike McCart and his team are filling. Check it out here:

A new mental health support service called T.H.E. Van launched in Eugene, and it's on wheels — which helps it get to where the young people are.

Summer is a super busy time for everyone, but it's important to remember that the need for blood donors is high. The summer season and lovely weather can increase the demand for donated blood. That's because fewer people donate while our region's trauma centers experience an increase in people needing emergency care. That's why, on behalf of our local hospitals, we're urgently seeking current and first-time donors to help keep our blood supply stable for local doctors and patients. Donating blood takes an hour (actual donation time is only about 10 minutes), and it's an incredible way to help those who have suffered trauma, cancer treatments, surgeries, bleeding disorders, and others in Western Washington and Oregon who rely on volunteer blood donors. By making an appointment to donate with Bloodworks Northwest, you play a vital role in ensuring that lifesaving blood is available when needed most. Patients in local hospitals would be so grateful if you'd schedule an appointment today for August 25th at Oregon Social Learning Center!

Honor your heart with a blood donation in February!
February is Heart Health Month—a perfect time to care for yourself and others. Did you know 1 in 2 U.S. adults has high blood pressure, and 1 in 7 hospital patients needs a blood transfusion? Here’s how you can make a difference: donate blood with Bloodworks Northwest. Each blood donation includes a quick health check, where you can monitor your blood pressure and pulse over time. You can donate every 56 days, and the process only takes about an hour, including registration, the health check, a 10-minute donation, and a post-donation snack. Your donation helps local patients battling cancer, recovering from surgeries, or facing emergencies. Right now, there’s an urgent need for donors of all blood types, especially those with Type O blood. Honor your heart and save lives—Schedule a blood donation appointment today for February 26th at Oregon Social Learning Center!
