Update - LCSO #26-3006 Missing Elderly Woman from Lorane

Marjorie Ann Gray is described as a white female who is approximately 5’02 tall and weighs about 130 pounds. She has short gray hair and blue eyes. It is unknown what she was last seen wearing. Her vehicle is also missing. It is a white in color 2003 Dodge Durango with Oregon license plates 684-CVQ.

6/18/26 - LCSO #26-3006 - Deputies are actively searching for Missing Elderly Woman from Lorane

On 6/17/26 the Lane County Sheriff’s Office learned 88-year-old Marjorie Ann Gray was missing from Lorane Oregon. Gray was last seen on 06/12/26, at her residence in the 27000 block of Lorane Orchard Road. Gray’s vehicle is also missing, described as a white Dodge Durango with Oregon license plates 684-CVQ.

Lane County Deputies and Sheriff Search and Rescue volunteers continue to search the area. Anyone with any information about Gray’s whereabouts are asked to call LCSO dispatch at 541-682-4150.

Deputies Investigate Fatal Crash on Marcola Road

On 6/15/26 at about 11:20pm, LCSO Deputies responded with the Mohawk Valley Fire to the report of a single vehicle crash in the 90000 block of Marcola Road. EMT’s arrived and discovered the driver and sole occupant, deceased. The driver was identified as 51-year-old Daniel Keith Johnsgard of Eugene.

Deputies investigated the crash scene. Johnsgard’s vehicle traveled a significant distance off the road and impacted several trees. Based on the initial investigation, it appears speed was a contributing factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and there is no further information at this time.

6/15/2026 - June 15th is Elder Abuse Awareness Day

The Lane County Sheriff wants to highlight the importance of our duty to protect our vulnerable adults from all forms of abuse. Sadly, statistics show that as many as 1 in 10 people, aged 60 or older, experience some type of abuse. There are many types of abuse, physical, emotional or financial exploitation, but all too often these crimes go unreported.

We need to be aware of this widespread issue to make a change in our communities. If you suspect abuse, report it.

6/11/26 - Lane County Sheriff Cold Case Detectives close 31-year-old murder

On June 2nd, 1995, a little after 9:00pm the body of then 33-year-old Joni Marie Grigsby was found deceased along the river outside Springfield. LCSO Detectives investigated her death, and it was ultimately ruled a homicide. Over time every lead ran cold. Investigative tools at the time were not what they are today.

Since that time LCSO Cold Case Detectives have continued to work on the case. In 2023, DNA samples obtained from the crime scene were sent to an outside laboratory for testing. The results of the testing narrowed the field of suspects to small handful, which detectives continued to work through.

Detectives learned that one of the suspects, Roy C. Gomes, was shot and killed by Sacramento Police on March 5th, 2004, during a violent confrontation. Gomes was on parole at the time of the shooting. During Gomes’ autopsy a sample of his DNA was taken. LCSO Cold Case Detectives obtained a copy of Gomes’ DNA sample and submitted it for comparison against the samples obtained from the crime scene.

Lab analysis confirmed Gomes’ DNA matched what was found at the scene of Grigsby’s murder. Joni Grigsby’s family have been notified of the updates and results of this investigation.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Cold Case Team is made up of volunteers, who donate their time to help solve unclosed cases. The team is made up of retried officers and detectives who volunteer countless hours to help bring closure to families and the team is completely funded through donations.

6/08/26 - LCSO 26-2684 – Sheriff’s Detectives arrest Lowell man for Luring a Minor and Online Sexual Corruption

On 5/31/26 the Lane County Sheriff’s Office received information that 37-year-old Kody Charles Eidenschink of Lowell, was communicating with a juvenile through social media, and the communication contained sexually explicit content.

Detectives located Eidenschink near his place of work in the 88000 block of W.11th Avenue. Detectives ultimately arrested Eidenschink and served a search warrant for his personal electronic devices. Eidenschink was lodged at the Lane County Jail for the crimes of Luring a Minor and Online Sexual Corruption of a Child in the Second Degree.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 541-682-4150.

6/3/2026 - LCSO Case 26-2746 – Deputies arrest Veneta man for murder following shooting

At about 9pm on 6/3/2026 Lane County Deputies responded to the report of a shooting in the 87000 block of Huston Road in Veneta. Responding deputies contacted several people at the location and discovered one person deceased.

The deceased man was identified as 40-year-old Mark Thomas Tierney. During the investigation LCSO Detectives arrested the shooter, 63-year-old Martin Grant Tierney, for Murder in the second degree and Unlawful use of a weapon. Martin Tierney was lodged at the Lane County Jail, and the investigation is still ongoing.

All individuals in this case have been identified and accounted for. There is no ongoing threat to the community.

6/02/2026 - June is Search and Rescue (SAR) Month

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office wants to recognize all the people who help keep our community safe while enjoying the outdoors. The Sheriff’s Office only has a few paid SAR employees but is supported by over 170 volunteers. These volunteers help to make up many separate groups within the program. Each group has specialized training to help in rescue and recovery operations throughout Lane County. Specialized SAR groups include:

Ground Search & Rescue (GSAR)

Youth SAR Program (YSAR)

Eugene Mountain Rescue (EMR)

Special Vehicles Group (SVG)

Dive Team & Water Search & Rescue

Pacific Northwest Search Dogs

Lane County Sheriff Amateur Radio Operators

Mounted SAR (Horseback)

6/01/26 - 26-2668 - LCSO Deputies arrest Dune City man for Assault 2, DUII & Reckless driving

On May 30th at about 4pm, Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a vehicle crash with injury in the 4600 block of Pacific Avenue, in Dune City. During the investigation it was learned that two occupants were riding in the bed of the truck and fell out. These same two occupants were transported to local area hospitals for treatment.

The driver was identified as 49-year-old Benjamin Robert Engler of Dune City. Engler was arrested for Assault in the second degree, DUII, and Reckless endangering. Engler was lodged at the Lane County Jail.
