At 7:41 p.m. on May 30, Eugene Police responded to a crash involving a Harley Davidson motorcycle into a guardrail in a grassy area between eastbound Beltline Highway and Delta Highway on ramp.

Bystanders responded to help the motorcyclist, a male in his late 30s, who was attempting to stand. An officer took over to help stabilize the motorcyclist until Eugene Springfield Fire medics arrived to treat and transport him to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. There were no other vehicles involved.

Intoxication does not appear to have been a factor in the crash. The motorcyclist was reported to have been speeding prior to the crash. Case 26-08149

Can you help us identify this suspect in a bias case?

At 3:55 p.m. on April 20, Eugene Police responded to the Park Blocks after a man reported being pushed by a juvenile. The victim, an Asian man in his 20s reported he was walking through the park when a juvenile male who was part of a group came up behind him and pushed him. This caused him to partially fall into the fountain. The juvenile mocked the victim’s accent and told him he shouldn’t be here. The victim had pain but did not require treatment at the scene. He walked to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office where Eugene Police officers met him to make a report.

The suspect is described as a white, male youth with blonde hair and was last seen wearing all black clothing, a black hoodie with the hood up over his head, and a black backpack with light gray or white accents on the shoulder straps.

If you can help identify the suspect, please call 541.682.5111 and refer to Case 26-05912

Wrong-way driver arrested for DUII

At 3:14 a.m. on May 26, Eugene Police responded to a report of a possible intoxicated driver at West Broadway and Olive Street. A caller reported a man in a nearby parking garage had appeared intoxicated, had been searching for his vehicle, and then after finding it, left it in driving the wrong way on W. 7th Avenue.

Officers located the involved Toyota Corolla near the intersection of W. 7th Avenue and Chambers Street and pinned the vehicle in place with their patrol SUVs. An officer contacted the driver, 24-year-old Saul Mercado-Severiano, who appeared intoxicated. After an investigation, he was arrested for DUII.

If someone is overdosing and you call 911 to get help, you and they will not be charged with drug possession or drug use. Oregon drug laws have changed, but the Oregon Good Samaritan law has not changed and still protects overdose witnesses and patients. If you see someone overdosing please call 911 and if you have it, give them Narcan as soon as possible. You should call 911 even if they have been given Narcan because Narcan is short acting and the person needs additional monitoring after the dose is given. You can learn more about the law and ways to save lives at www.fentanylaware.com
Last year, Eugene Police administered Narcan to possibly overdosing individuals 400 times (measured by replacements). When police respond to calls regarding overdoses, neither the caller nor the patient is charged with drug possession or drug use.

Today, on Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice ensures the freedoms we enjoy every day, and we are deeply grateful. As we spend time with loved ones, may we also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day.

From all of us at the Eugene Police Department, thank you to those who served and gave everything.
