Temple Beth Israel Sanctuary Committee

The Temple Beth Israel Sanctuary Committee is a group of individuals associated with Temple Beth Israel who work for social justice. We have a particular emphasis on supporting immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers, but we strive to help all targeted groups, including religious minorities, Black, indigenous, people of color, LGBTQ+, and other minority communities. Some of our particular activit

ies include:
*Organizing “Know Your Rights”, “Bystander/Upstander Intervention”, and similar trainings where people learn how to intervene to support immigrants, religious minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, people of color, and other targeted groups.
*Publicly testifying in support of legislation that helps protect targeted groups.
*Partnering with other progressive groups to assist targeted groups.
*Raising funds to assist targeted groups and individuals.
*Joining with clergy and other groups in the local faith community to speak out publicly in support of targeted groups.
*Rallying, testifying, or otherwise promoting fundamental democratic principles and the right of all people to be included and to fully participate our community.
