Day 3 of National EMS Week: Safety Tuesday

We know most of you already do this, and we appreciate it.

But today we’re asking for your help spreading the word:

When you see flashing lights and hear sirens, pull to the right and stay there until the emergency vehicle has passed.

It’s not just the law in California. It’s one of the simplest ways we can all help keep first responders safe on the road.

Thank you for leading by example!

Thank you CalFire Siskiyou Unit!

The help from your training and command staff was invaluable today.

Thank you, Kathleen from the YCC, for wanting to come out in person to train with us. Having Dispatch right there with us helps build the teamwork.

Thank you, Annemarie Moser from Fairchild Medical Center for participating to help us learn and grow.

Thank you, Darrell Frost, emergency management of the Karuk tribe for helping.

Thank you, Jeanna Frost emergency preparedness coordinator for helping.

Thank you, Chief Hess from Fort Jones fire department for picking up that workshop when we needed somebody to fill in last minute.

Thank you, McCloud fire department for making the drive to participate and Jesse for being a mentor for our ambulance crews.

Thank you to the town of Fort Jones for letting us use the school so we could train to better serve the community.

Thank you Deputy Schauf for coming out to train with us and help build bonds with law enforcement.

Thank you Darci Chesnick and Annie Kramer for helping make our lunch!

Thank you to all of our great actors that played roles to make it more realistic!

Thank you to Mel Fecter for bringing the drone out and taking a bunch of pictures for us.

Dan Bonham from Behavioral Health.

I’m sure I’ve missed someone. I apologize. As you all can see, it takes a huge team to create a training of this magnitude. We are better together! And we are committed to our community!

Reminder that our Annual Scott Valley Multi-Agency Training Drill is tomorrow, Sunday May 17th in Fort Jones from 9am to 2pm.

Coincidently, it is also the beginning of National EMS Week, which was started in 1974. This year's theme is what our annual trainings' embrace: improving together for our patients and community.

This year’s theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” is an opportunity to focus on the many ways EMS professionals work together and across disciplines—with 911, healthcare, public health, fire service, law enforcement, and others—in the best interests of patients.

Collaboration and communication are key to improving outcomes across EMS, including better patient care, injury prevention and support for the well-being of clinicians and leaders.

Exhausted and exhilarated at the level of investment this group of students and EMT's/Paramedics (some proctors were unavailable for the picture) gave to this class.

The 170 hour state curriculum was mostly self study with meet ups for skills but no lecture. 24 hours of clinical time. 2 intense days at mid-terms and 2 intense days for finals. All to volunteer in their extremely rural communities.

Congratulations to all!

Special thank you to our role players, proctors, photographer, Fort Jones Fire Department and Valley Towing. Valley Tow donated 3 cars, the space and time for our extrication day.
