Planning a trip to Rocky? Make sure that you are prepared!

Timed Entry Permit Reservations are required to enter all areas of Rocky Mountain National Park between 9 am and 3 pm (for destinations along the Bear Lake Road corridor, Timed Entry Permits are in effect from 5 am to 6 pm).

Pack your patience and be ready when you arrive at the park. Have your Timed Entry Permit confirmation and your ID out and be ready to show the ranger at the park's entrance gate.

Don't have a Timed Entry Permit yet? There are two options available:
🎫Park Access + Bear Lake Road or
🎫 Park Access, Does Not Include Bear Lake Road

Additional Timed Entry Permits are released on Recreation.gov at 5:00 pm the night before your desired arrival date.

Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park is open to vehicles for the season.

Due to melting snow on the road and the potential for freezing temperatures visitors should be prepared for icy conditions. At this time, night-time closures will not be implemented.

However, because weather conditions may change rapidly, and winter weather is forecast for higher elevations this holiday weekend, including freezing temperatures and some snow accumulation, park visitors should be prepared to adjust travel plans accordingly and are encouraged to call the park’s Trail Ridge Road recorded status phone line at (970) 586-1222. Park staff will update the recorded line when/if the road status changes.

Alpine Visitor Center is tentatively scheduled to open on Saturday, May 28. Trail Ridge Store will likely be opening later in the week.

In 1872, Yellowstone was made the world’s first national park. Yellowstone inspired and supported indigenous cultures long before it became a park. Both led to its becoming a national park, and in the time since, Yellowstone continues to inspire art, music, literature, science, and a conservation movement that led to other national parks in America and around the world.
