Today, our members and staff—alongside the Upper Darby Fire Department—participated in the river session for the Advanced Lines Rescue Systems certification. River Day marked the culmination of weeks of training, including classroom instruction, ropes and rigging, swim testing, and hands-on application in the Schuylkill River.

This exceptional course, delivered by Elder Technical Rescue Services, LLC, challenged and strengthened our team every step of the way.

We extend our sincere thanks to the instructors for their expertise and to the Chester City of Chester Bureau of Fire for their support with equipment.

We remain committed to expanding our capabilities, and this training represents another important step forward. At this time, we have over 20 members and staff who have completed various certifications in Water Rescue & Emergency Response, Advanced Lines Rescue Systems, Emergency Boat Operator, and Ice Rescue.

On January 11, 2026, staff from the Lazaretto Ballroom alerted the fire company that a guest was experiencing a medical emergency inside the ballroom.A paid staff member on duty quickly responded next door and discovered the guest was in cardiac arrest. Lifesaving efforts were immediately initiated.

Additional members from Tinicum’s paid staff and volunteers quickly responded to assist along with paramedics from Narberth EMS. Through their combined efforts, crews were able to achieve a pulse and rapidly transport the patient to Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital for further care.

Today, we had the incredible opportunity to receive a surprise visit from that same guest, who has made a full recovery from this medical emergency. Full recoveries from cardiac arrest are rare making moments like this truly special for everyone involved.

Seeing him return with his family is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. We are incredibly proud of the dedication and teamwork shown by the members of Tinicum Township Fire Company and Narberth EMS.

Great job to everyone involved.

Heads up, Tinicum Township! A significant winter weather system is expected to impact our area starting tomorrow with colder temperatures, periods of snow, and potentially slippery conditions. Travel may become difficult at times, especially during the peak of the storm on Sunday and Monday — please plan accordingly and stay alert for changing conditions.

❄️ What you should know:
• Snow and wintry precipitation are expected to develop as the front moves through — this could lead to slushy roads and slow travel.
• Temperatures will trend colder with periods of snow showers continuing into early next week.

❤️ Check on your neighbors!
Please take a moment to check on those around you, especially elderly residents or anyone who might need assistance during this cold stretch.

👩‍🚒 Staffing Reminder:
To ensure the safety of our community and all who live or visit here, we’ve increased staffing levels throughout the winter weather threat so that we are ready to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.

Stay safe, stay warm, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you need help. If conditions become hazardous, remember to dial 911 for emergencies. 🚨

Members of the Tinicum Township Fire Company took advantage of the calm before the upcoming winter storm to upgrade our in-station alerting system. Using skills learned outside of the firehouse, members worked together to improve how our crews are alerted for calls.

Previously, crews were notified by a single alert tone and a general red strobe. With the new system, crews now receive a distinct alert tone along with color-coded lights — red for fire calls and blue for EMS calls — allowing for quicker recognition and a more efficient response.
