City of Essex, IA Essex is a city in Page County, Iowa, United States. The population was 798 in the 2010 census. Essex was platted in 1870.

The Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad arrived in Essex in 1871. Essex is located at 40°49′59″N 95°18′19″W (40.833016, -95.305208) near the East Nishnabotna River. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.51 square miles. Essex population history

According to the Page County Road Department, contract crew will be placing fog seal on J14 & M41 between Essex and Highway 59 on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
During this time, travel will be restricted to one lane, with a pilot car and flaggers. Work is expected to take only one day. The recommended detour is Highway 59 & Highway 48.

The City of Essex would like to let the residents know that the yard waste site is open from sunrise to sunset and now that it is open again remind residents to please take all yard waste all the way down to the waste pile across the lagoons and to please use the appropriate pile depending on if its limbs or leaves. We are working to get it all pushed up and cleaned up and greatly appreciate everyone's help with this so we can continue to have this location open and available to residents. Thank you!

The City of Essex would like to remind residents that ALL golf carts must be registered with the city, have insurance and you MUST be a licensed driver over the age of 16 to drive a golf cart in city limits. No children are allowed to drive them even with an adult present. These restrictions follow the Iowa state law and are for everyone's safety and your permit can be revoked if the ordinance is not followed. Thank you for your understanding with this matter!

As of now Page county will be testing the outdoor warning sirens today Wednesday August 19 at 10am. If weather allows.

Turf tek will be spraying ALL parks in Essex Monday August 17th. So all parks will be closed Monday and will reopen Tuesday. Thank you for your understanding and patience!

The City would like to let residents know that after our construction meeting we were advised that if you have flags/markers in your yard still from the water project, that it is now ok for you to remove them to make trimming easier. Thank you!
