Todd and Becki Franks are the 2026 Essex Labor Day Grand Marshals. The Labor Day celebration in Essex begins with the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus on Friday, Sept. 4 and ends with the demolition derby on Monday, Sept. 7. For the complete schedule, go to https://www.facebook.com/Essexlaborday/
Todd and Becki Franks have dedicated decades of service to the Essex community through fire and rescue, youth activities, education, church, and numerous community organizations.
Todd has been an active member of Essex Fire Rescue for more than 37 years, serving as both a firefighter and EMT. Throughout his years of service, he has held multiple Captain positions and previously served as Fire Chief.
Becki volunteered with Essex Fire Rescue for more than 28 years before retiring from active service. During her time with the department, she served as a firefighter and EMT, as well as Secretary and Calendar Chairperson.
Their commitment to Essex extends far beyond fire and rescue. Together, Todd and Becki have served as Cub Scout leaders and have been involved with the Essex Booster Club and Essex Music Boosters. Becki served five years on the Essex Youth Sports Board, while Todd has coached numerous sports and age groups throughout the years. He continues to coach multiple sports for Essex Community School. Becki is well-known for sharing her photographs of all Essex activities on Essex Trojans page.
Becki currently serves on the Essex School Board, is a co-leader of Fremont Farmers and 4-Hers, and volunteers with the Essex Food Cooperative Bountiful Baskets program.
Their service also extends to their faith community. Both Todd and Becki are active members of Essex Presbyterian Church. Becki serves as Sunday School Superintendent and Treasurer, while Todd previously served as a member of the church session.
Through decades of volunteering, leadership, coaching, mentoring, and service, Todd and Becki have made a lasting impact on generations of families in Essex. Their dedication reflects a deep commitment to their community and to the people who call Essex home.
