The Essex Community Justice Center invites community members to a Restorative Reading Series during August and September. All are welcome to any or all of the upcoming events as we explore and discuss the impacts of restorative principles through books. This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow community members and create space to reflect on the choices we face each day. Links below to learn more and register.
Community Book Read Discussion Session – The 57 Bus
Join CJC staff and other community members to discuss the book - The 57 Bus by Dashka Slater - a riveting nonfiction book about race, class, gender, crime, and punishment.
Whether you have finished the book, are part way through or have just skimmed the book or listened to a section of the audio book, all are welcome. We will explore themes and reflect on connections to our local community.
Limited copies are available for loan at the CJC, local libraries also have copies or feel free to access on-line or through your local book service/store. Reach out if need any assistance getting access to the book: [email protected]
Children’s Restorative Storytime:
Join your little one(s) to hear stories like Wally & Freya, by Lindsay Pointer, that highlight the restorative principles such as empathy, curiosity and inclusion.
