As heavy rain is impacting the northern region of our state, it can cause flash flooding with little to no warning. Stay safe and take action now:

✅ Turn Around, Don’t Drown! Never drive or walk through flooded roads.
✅ Stay Informed: Monitor weather alerts and local updates.
✅ Move to Higher Ground: If you’re in a flood‑prone area, evacuate early and head to higher ground.
✅ Secure Your Home: Bring in outdoor items and unplug electrical equipment if safe to do so.
✅ Have an Emergency Kit Ready: Include water, food, meds, and important documents.

🌊 Floodwaters are often deeper and faster than they look — and may hide downed power lines or road damage

The first of the year is here, with temps expected to reach 100 degrees in parts of the state this week. ☀️

Our crews are working and will continue to work 24/7 to restore power outages as they occur, safely and as quickly as possible. 👷

Remember:
✅ If you experience an outage, report it to us ASAP using one of the options below.
✅ If you come across downed wires, STAY AWAY. Downed wires should always be considered “live” and dangerous. ⚡ Report them to us immediately by calling 1-800-436-7734.
✅ Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
✅ Visit nj211.org to find a cooling center near you, if necessary.

Thunderstorms can be intense, bringing lightning, heavy rain, strong winds, and even power outages. Here’s what you need to do before, during, and after a storm to stay safe!

⛈️ Before the Storm:
✅ Check the weather forecast and sign up for alerts.
✅ Secure outdoor items that can be blown away.
✅ Unplug electronics to prevent power surges.
✅ Prepare an emergency kit with flashlights, batteries, water, and non-perishable food.
✅ Have a backup power source if needed (portable charger, generator).

🌩️ During the Storm:
⚠️ Stay indoors and avoid windows.
⚡ Do NOT use corded phones or electrical appliances.
🚗 If driving, pull over safely and stay inside your vehicle.
