We’ll be updating and adding more services as our project moves ahead and continues to grow — see njalternatives.com for more!

It’s here! NJ APT has compiled a list of resources in Ess*x County to call instead of calling the cops. Screenshot, save, send this to your friends, family, and neighbors! Utilizing these alternatives can prevent escalation and violence in our communities and keep lives from being lost to senseless police brutality.

Cop Cooperation assessments have been made to determine the extent of resources’ relationships with law enforcement. These ratings are based on the judgements of our members who reached out to these organizations.

Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for updates on our upcoming guides, including ones for Hudson and Union counties!

It’s been over 100 days since Maurice Gordon was killed by a police officer here in NJ. Meanwhile we have eyes on Holmdel township pushing back against public displays of rallying behind cops

As for us, we’re contacting a slew of Hudson County organizations for vetting for our alternatives guide, researching organizations in Union County, and continuing to grow our project! Want to help us out? Send a DM! Look out for an IG version of our Ess*x Guide next week 🤳🏽

Let’s educate ourselves with a podcast episode from feat. and Noname, and also support and fighting to protect school children in New Brunswick.

Big news! Today we're publicly launching our project, the North Jersey Alternatives to Policing Taskforce (NJAPT). We're a group of organizers, activists, and artists working to create thoroughly researched and vetted guides of hotlines and services that may serve as alternatives to calling the police in our communities. Individuals and organizations use these resources and accompanying tactics to promote public safety so that we can stop relying on violent law enforcement and practice collective care without cops. Our alternatives guides and our ongoing social media work are meant to connect and support various campaigns around Black Lives Matter, police abolition, and related social justice work in our state.

People using our resources may be actively fighting in such campaigns, or may be simply curious about alternatives to policing. Ultimately, our goal is to empower every person to participate in community care and public safety without depending on a system of policing that’s designed to manage and maintain social and economic inequalities. Who keeps us safe? We keep us safe!
