The Big Day of Giving was a success. Our goal was $1500, and we exceeded it with just over $2300 in donations. Thanks so much to everyone for supporting our library. Special thanks to Virginia Toby and crew. Our goal this year is to provide dollars for the support of technology for all in our area.

Thirty-one Chrome Book Computers have arrived that will be housed in the Wintun room of the library
for class use. They are a part of the Yocha Dehe Community Fund Grant to FERL. This is in addition to
the recently installed computerized bulletin board and 61 new chairs. The overhead projector will soon
be installed so we will have a very modern community room. Thanks to County librarian Mark Fink and
crew for managing the processes to get this completed.

The Master Gardener Workshops have been very successful this past year. The last two “Growing
Succulents” and “Insectary Gardens“ were popular. They were the last for this year and will start up again Sept. 2019 – May 2020. Let us know what other topics you are interested in. Email me at [email protected] and I will pass it on. Thanks Carolyn Nordstrom, Karina Knight and Jim Schulte our local Master Gardeners for providing these workshops.

Our ESL classes (English as a Second Language) provided by Woodland Community College are very
popular. The second class is about to end, and they will again be provided next year. Thanks so much to
Woodland College for this providing instructor for program.

The fourth Monday at 4PM at the Esparto Library, we have regular committee/work time. This includes
inventory, committee time for various activities, processing donated books and other items. Anyone
that would like to join us you are welcome. If you would like to join FERL envelopes are always available
at the Library.

Thank-You for Loving our Library
FERL President,
Jim Schulte

Two new Little Free Libraries were recently installed at the Guinda Grange Hall and the Madison Fire Station. Little Free Libraries are small structures that house book exchanges. The concept is to "Take a book, Leave a book". The Friends of the Esparto Regional Library sponsored the project. EHS students built and installed the Little Free Libraries as a class project under the guidance of Ag Mechanics teacher Mr. Murphy.

To learn more about Little Free Libraries and where to find them visit: https://littlefreelibrary.org/. Our local Little Free Libraries are located at: 17880 Stephens Street Madison, CA 95653 on the east side of the Madison Fire Station and 16787 Forest Street Guinda, CA 95637 on the north side of the Guinda Grange Hall.
