The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audio books, and DVD’s to be sold at its annual book sale at the Waterfront Art Festival. They are also in need of large print books, which are often requested.

Funds from the annual sale are used to publish Voter Guides and for other voter services.

Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition. The League is not able to accept and store large quantities of books and requests that the books meet the donation criteria.

Books can be delivered during normal business hours to their drop-off site in the Ludington Centre, 1112 Ludington Street, Main Floor Suite 208 (look for the drop-off sign). Due to Ludington Street road construction, use the alley entrance. You can also call Pat Rudden, 906-280-1789 for pick up.

The Delta County League of Women Voters (DCLWV) has established a memorial fund honoring Clara Mosefelder, local League founder, civic leader and teacher. Clara passed away on 1/21/25 after a long history of community service. In addition to the League, she was a past president of the Escanaba School Board and the Delta County Historical Society. She taught art to all ages from kindergarten to college.

Clara’s advocacy for well-informed civic participation underscored for her the importance of educating our future citizens in the history of our country and its valued foundations. In her name, the DCLWV is proud to make monetary gifts to local schools to enhance or supplement their social studies/civics curriculums and the instructional process.

Recently check presentations were made to the Bark River Schools for Active Classroom Aids, Escanaba Schools for a local Government Day Field Trip and Gladstone Schools for Michigan Youth in Government.

The DCLWV is proud of our work in Delta County and our history, which began in 1951. We have much to thank Clara for and these donations in her name are meant to recognize her contributions to civic education here in Delta County. These gifts are in addition to the book donations made to the Escanaba and Gladstone Public Libraries.
