Before the end of the school year, Van Allen Vikings gathered to celebrate an incredible 3rd Trimester Viking Awards Assembly recognizing students for their hard work, character, and commitment to the Viking Code!

Students in TK through 5th grade were honored for exemplifying Responsibility, Patience, and Leadership throughout the spring months. Our 4th and 5th grade students were also recognized for their academic achievement through Honor Roll and High Honor Roll awards.

A special thank you to our amazing teachers, staff, and families for continuing to work together to support our students academically, socially, and emotionally. Strong schools are built on communication, trust, and partnership, and Van Allen is fortunate to have a community that continually shows up for kids.

We would also like to thank our Parent Club for generously donating prizes for students who honored the Viking Code throughout the school year through acts of kindness, responsibility, leadership, and positive citizenship on campus.

Special shout out to Casey Silva and Chris Houghland for their continued volunteer service each week. Your dedication and support are greatly appreciated!

Thank you to all of our Viking families for joining us in celebrating our students and helping make Van Allen such a special place to learn and grow. Go Vikings!

Our Van Allen Vikings experienced California history firsthand during their unforgettable trip to Asilomar! Students explored the California Missions, learned about the Coastal Region, enjoyed s’mores on the beach, and created lasting memories with their fellow 4th grade classmates. Experiences like these help bring learning to life while building friendships that will last for years to come. 💙💛

A special shout out to Kacey Cheary and Linda Johnston for all of their hard work organizing and planning this amazing field trip experience for our students. We are so grateful for your dedication and care in making these memories possible!

Announcement....Art Contest Winner!
Linnea Metcalf - Congratulations on creating the winning design that will be featured on this year's handbook cover!

We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to every student who participated in this contest. We were incredibly impressed by the creativity, talent, and effort shown in all of the submissions. Your artwork and ideas made this a very difficult decision.

We would like to also acknowledge our two runner-up submissions: Lauren Berg, El Portal Middle School student, and Tucker Wolak, Collegeville Elementary student.

Thank you ALL for helping make our school community so creative and inspiring.

Mrs. Featherston reunited with the current 5th grade students who made up her very first TK class to recreate their very first class picture as Van Allen Vikings! What a special full-circle moment watching these students grow from tiny TK learners into soon-to-be middle schoolers. Once a Viking, always a Viking!

Last night’s Board Meeting was filled with recognition, celebration, and inspiring presentations.

The Board of Trustees and district personnel proudly honored the 2025–2026 retirees for their years of dedication and service to our students, schools, and community. We also recognized the Joel Johannsen, Principal of Gateway Charter Academy for his outstanding contributions to the continued growth and success of the program.

The evening also featured presentations from our First Responders Program and FFA students, highlighting the incredible opportunities and leadership experiences available to our students.

It was also the final Board Meeting for our Student Board Representative, Brianne Coelho, who faithfully served during the 2025-2026 school year. We thank her for her leadership, dedication, and the valuable student voice she brought to the Board throught the year.

Thank you to everyone who continues to make our district a place of excellence, service, and opportunity.
