As we wrap up National School Counseling Week, held each year during the first full week of February, it is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the unique contributions of counselors within our district. What's more, this special week highlights the tremendous impact our school counselors have in helping students succeed in school and plan for their careers.

The 2026 theme is School Counselors Amplify Student Success. Our students are certainly more successful thanks to the leadership, compassion, and collaboration our remarkable counselors bring to school each and every day!

Jennifer Bird, Lloyd Memorial High School
Ivy Blanton, Arnett Elementary School
Jennifer Dean, Tichenor Middle School
Carrie Eagler, Miles Elementary School
Jennifer Glass, Lloyd Memorial High School
Jackie Kennedy, Howell Elementary School
Scott Kimberlin, Bartlett Educational Center
Kathleen Koerner, Lindeman Elementary School
Liza Mathis, Lindeman Elementary School
Kimberly Miller, Howell Elementary School
Grace Owen, Tichenor Middle School

Each of these remarkable individuals is dedicated to cultivating a strong foundation in self-awareness, problem-solving, and relationship-building in every student. When students feel good about themselves and know how to manage the challenges and emotions life brings, they enter the classroom better prepared to learn. This trickles down to long-term success...in school and in life.

๐ŸŒจ๏ธ With significant snowfall and extremely cold temperatures expected, residents are asked to stay off the roads during the upcoming snow event whenever possible. Our Public Works crews will be working around the clock this weekend; however, hazardous conditions are expected from Saturday evening through Monday morning, making travel difficult.

๐ŸšจWhile only certain streets in the City of Elsmere are designated as snow emergency routes, we ask all residents to move vehicles to off-street parking when possible, even if that means parking on an unpaved surface in your yard. This helps our crews clear roads more efficiently and safely.

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Due to the extended duration of this storm, Elsmere Public Works will be operating on 12-hour shifts, with four team members per shift. The City currently has approximately 800 tons of salt and 2,500 gallons of liquid calcium chloride available for road treatment.

โš ๏ธ Please plan ahead, limit travel when possible, and stay safe. Thank you for your cooperation as crews work to keep Elsmere roads passable during this storm.
