The District is thrilled with the progress of our community public art project this year! The project has been in development for over 2 years, and we are finally able to begin bringing to to you, the public!

The project balances history, art, and conservation, discussing the Mill Creek Flood of 1915, the construction of the Mill Creek Tube, and how we (the community) can work together to keep our natural waters and water supply clean.

With that said, the FEED Media Art Center mural is complete! Take a moment and stop by this weekend to view the 32' mural on the east side of the building, depicting the history of the Mill Creek flood on French Street. Best viewed from French Street (but wait! There is ONE MORE part of this piece coming soon...)
This mural is the second public art installment of the Hidden Creeks Project, with a 3rd to follow this fall! The initial piece is located on the front lawn of the Erie Insurance Arena - stop by!

For more information about the Mill Creek Flood of 1915, the construction of the Mill Creek Tube, and how we as a community can work together to keep our natural water/water supply clean, visit www.hiddencreeks.org for details.

Thank you to and for being a host site for these public art pieces, and thank you to the Looking Glass Art Project and Erie Art Company for your ingenuity and work to bring these pieces to the community!

Our summer intern, Ellyse, has spent part of her summer gathering information for the community about where we can find eco-friendly alternatives to plastic, single-use items.
In addition to bringing your own bags when shopping, and using a reusable water bottle, there are other ways to find items you need locally without also buying the extra, unnecessary packaging.

Check out the link below to view the map! You can click on each location to discover what items they offer and more information about the vendor.
