🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸

Today we recognize the hard work, dedication, and commitment of working men and women everywhere, especially those whose jobs don’t stop for weekends or holidays.

To the correctional officers, supervisors, medical staff, food service, maintenance, administrative staff, and everyone who helps keep our facility operating safely 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, thank you.

While many are enjoying a well-earned day off, correctional professionals across the country are still reporting for duty, maintaining safety, security, and order.

We appreciate the professionalism, sacrifice, and teamwork of everyone who serves at the Erie County Department of Corrections.

What a great way to start your Friday - Meet Yoshi, Erie County’s very own courthouse dog!

Yoshi is part of the Therapy Dogs United team and spends her time bringing comfort, companionship and a little extra joy to people across Erie County. She’s stopped by the County Executive’s Office, but her work goes far beyond the courthouse. Yoshi makes therapeutic visits to hospitals and also visits the Erie County Prison and places all across the county.

Whether she’s helping brighten someone’s day, offering a calming presence or simply greeting a new friend, Yoshi has a special way of making people feel a little better. ❤️🐶

If you see Yoshi out and about in the community, don’t be shy she’s super friendly! Stop and say hello.

The Erie County Prison is proud to announce the promotion of Officer Fernando Frye, Officer Jacob Chimera, and Casey Cleveland to the rank of Lieutenant.

These promotions reflect their professionalism and continued commitment to serving our community with integrity. Each individual has demonstrated the leadership and responsibility necessary to step into this important role.

We also extend a warm welcome to Lieutenant Casey Cleveland, who joins our facility with more than a decade of experience in the state Corrections system. His background and expertise will be a valuable addition to our leadership team.

Please join us in congratulating our newly promoted Lieutenants and in supporting them as they transition into their new responsibilities. The Erie County Prison remains committed to maintaining high standards of safety, service, and professionalism for the community we serve.

Happy Father’s Day.

Today, we honor the fathers, grandfathers, and father figures who serve inside our correctional facility as Corrections Officers.

The work you do is not easy. You carry the responsibility of keeping others safe, maintaining order, and showing professionalism in difficult situations, all while also carrying the responsibility of being fathers, husbands, sons, and leaders at home.

Many of you miss holidays, family gatherings, ball games, dinners, and quiet moments because duty calls. That sacrifice does not go unnoticed.

On this Father’s Day, we recognize and appreciate the men who lead with strength, courage, patience, and commitment, both inside the facility and at home with their families.

Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and the example you set.

🚨 Erie County Department of Corrections is leading the way in corrections leadership! 🚨

On June 1–2, Erie County Prison proudly hosted the Penn State Justice and Safety Institute’s “High Impact Supervision for Corrections” training right here at Erie County Prison.

Corrections professionals from across the Commonwealth came together to sharpen their leadership skills, strengthen accountability, grow in ethical decision-making, and learn practical tools to better lead staff in today’s correctional environment. This two-day training focused on key areas including leadership styles, supervision strategies, accountability, motivation, values, ethics, and employee development.

We are proud to share that all current Erie County Prison supervisors have now attended and benefited from this outstanding training. Investing in leadership is investing in our staff, our facility, and the future of corrections.

A special thank-you to Penn State Justice and Safety Institute for providing high-quality, corrections-focused leadership training, and to everyone who attended with the commitment to learn, grow, and lead well.
