You never quite know who is quietly rooting for your officers until they show up with a box of snacks. That is exactly what our local Daughters of the American Revolution chapter did this week.

For those who don't know them, the DAR is a nonprofit of women who trace their lineage back to patriots of the American Revolution. Beyond preserving that history, their local chapters stay busy right here at home, standing behind veterans, students, and causes that keep a community strong.

Last week that support landed in our break room. It might not sound like much, a donation of snacks, but on a long shift it tells our officers something that matters: people see the work, and they are grateful for it.

To our local DAR chapter, thank you for thinking of us. It went a lot further than you might realize. 💙

Last week a deer was found wandering Millcreek, worn out and in distress, dragging a tree branch nearly five feet long that had tangled in its antlers. Two residents stopped to help, and two of our officers pulled up right behind them. Together they calmed the deer, freed it from the branch, and sent it on its way lighter than they found it.

Just Millcreek folks, in and out of uniform, deciding it was worth their time. Thank YOU! 🦌🤎

Last Friday, a local father and son were out working when the son badly cut his hand. The kind of injury where the few minutes before help arrives are the ones that count.

Officer Mark Riggle happened to be off duty, just pulling out of his own driveway, when he saw something was wrong. He grabbed the tourniquet he keeps on him, got it on the young man's arm, and stopped the bleeding. A nearby work crew ran over with their first-aid kit right behind him.

Afterward, the family shared how much it meant to them. One thing they said stuck with us: they're getting first-aid training for their own crew now, because of that day.

And that's really the heart of it. Mark wasn't on a call. He wasn't in uniform. He was a neighbor who was trained, prepared, and willing, and a teenager is safe because of it. This is who our officers are even when no report is being written.

Thank you, Mark, and thank you to the neighbors who didn't hesitate either.

On the morning of September 3, 2026, at 7:43 a.m., the Millcreek Police Department received a missing persons alert through the Flock Safety System. The alert flagged a license plate connected to a missing person that had been entered into NCIC by a law enforcement agency outside of the Erie area.

Millcreek patrol officers responded to the area and located the vehicle in a nearby parking lot. Inside, officers found an elderly man in his 80s from Mckean County, nearly 2 hours away from his home, who was suffering from a medical condition. Millcreek Township Fire Department medics arrived on scene and transported him to a local hospital for treatment and further evaluation. Officers also made contact with the man's family to notify them.

We're glad this individual was found safely and able to get the care he needed.

A quick response from our patrol officers and Fire Department medics, along with the Flock Safety System, made a real difference in helping locate him.

Our Chief of Police, Carter Mook, has completed one of the most respected leadership programs in all of law enforcement, the FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar, known as LEEDS.

The FBI created this program in 1981 specifically to develop the executives who lead police departments like ours. Over two one-week sessions in Virginia, Chief Mook worked alongside chiefs and commanders from across the country, and internationally, on leadership, management, and running a department that truly serves the people it protects.
