Erie City Mission As a leader in the field of rescue and recovery, the Erie City Mission exists to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of those living in Erie.

Our Mission - Restoring Hope, Transforming Lives The Mission is part of a national association of 275 “Gospel Rescue Missions". Rescue missions, unlike government entities, can focus on local needs without a community-wide consensus to begin their work. Membership provides access to a variety of networking and professional resources and collaboration with other rescue missions throughout the nation. Our commitment to our residents, staff, volunteers, donors and community drives our vision to be a leader in the field of rescue and recovery; providing a continuum of innovative programs and services that encourage and support personal, educational and spiritual growth.

Inside this issue, you’ll see four faces of individuals in our New Life Program who are done letting labels tell their story. “I am NOT my addiction.” “I am NOT hopeless.” “I AM rebuilding.” Their words are the heart of this issue, and a reminder of what your Erie Gives Day gift made possible this year.

Look who’s been in the kitchen with us lately!

From HBK CPAs rolling up their sleeves for breakfast and lunch, to Erie Insurance and Gannon University students lending a hand, to Chef Jen and John from Maplevale surprising us with food donations, to our amazing volunteer Oleksandra sharing a taste of home with her incredible Ukrainian Borscht—and today, the team from Marquette Savings Bank joining us in the kitchen—we are overflowing with gratitude.

Thank you to everyone who has shown up, served, and given back these past few weeks and beyond. We couldn’t do this work without you. ❤️

‼️The Mission will still be serving public lunch today.‼️

Happy Labor Day! Our Erie and Girard thrift stores and main campus are closed today so our team can rest and recharge—but lunch will still be served at 1017 French St., because some things don't take a day off.

Grateful for every hand that keeps this mission moving, it takes a village. 🙏

As part of the Spirit of Erie event we were blessed yesterday with meaningful donations that will be used to help our neighbors in need. Thank you to Erie Federal Credit Union who partnered with the Erie Regional Chamber to encourage people to support those who need it most in our community.

From roundtable to real impact.

This week, our CEO, Brian Johansson joined U.S. Senators McCormick and Fetterman for a conversation on homelessness, housing, and food insecurity hosted by St. Paul’s Neighborhood Center. A highlight? Sharing our vision for The Haven—turning Our Lady of Mt. Carmel into 70 beds of hope for women and children in crisis.

70 pizzas. 248 neighbors fed. One moment that said it all. 🍕❤️

Today, Little Caesars Love Kitchen rolled into Erie City Mission and turned fresh cheese and pepperoni pizzas into full plates and full hearts for 248 members of our community.

But one conversation stuck with us. A man took a bite and looked up and said, “This is amazing...I haven’t had fresh pizza in years.”

That’s the reality we don’t always see. Something so simple, something many of us take for granted, can be something someone hasn’t experienced in years. Moments like this remind us why this work matters.

Thank you, Little Caesars Love Kitchen, for showing up for Erie—and for reminding all of us what an act of generosity can mean to someone. 🙏

Urban University students discovered, learned, grew, and led through an adventurous summer filled with scuba diving, wood art, baking, fitness, pickleball, crochet, history, and countless opportunities to develop as leaders.

And now, a new semester brings new opportunities! 🍂 Our fall course lineup is packed with intriguing experiences designed to spark curiosity, develop new skills, and challenge students to grow in leadership.
The next adventure starts this fall!
