We hope everyone had a fun holiday weekend! Backyard days, playground trips, cookouts… and apparently… tick season officially reporting for duty. 🫠

Friendly parent reminder from someone who just had one pulled off their kid at school: do your tick checks, friends. Hi, summer. 😅

As for us — this is your reminder that THIS WEEK is our last week before summer hours begin!

Starting next week:

☀️ Open Play: Wednesday–Sunday, 9AM–2PM
☀️ Friday Evening Hours: 5–7PM

We’re open for our normal open play hours, ready for all the climbing, playing, coffee-drinking, and “we needed out of the house” moments. 🛝☕

🎉 Play Date Special – Friday, 5/22!
Join us Friday for $2 OFF admission per kid all day!

Also — our June calendar is dropping! 👀

As we head into summer, we wanted to give everyone a heads up on a few changes:

☀️ Summer Hours Begin in June
• We’ll be closed Mondays & Tuesdays
• Open play hours will run until 2PM instead of 3PM

And… our summer memberships are in the works! We’ll be finalizing everything this week and getting details posted soon, so stay tuned! 🎉

🛝 Tuesday–Sunday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
🌙 Friday Evening Play: 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM

Real life has been real life-ing over here lately between funerals, birthdays, and all the things, so I’ll be honest—I dropped the ball a little on planning extra events for the start of May. Sometimes the behind-the-scenes chaos wins for a minute, and that’s okay.

I’m also wanting to do a fun giveaway soon, but I haven’t landed on the right one yet. Keep an eye out this week—and if you have giveaway ideas, send them my way! 🎉

In honor of my youngest’s birthday, we’re hosting our Birthday Cake Kit Drive 🧁

Here’s how it works:
Bring in a birthday cake kit, and your kiddo gets FREE open play that day.

That’s it.

These kits go to families who might not otherwise get to celebrate, and this has become one of my favorite traditions. Being able to open it up to all of you makes it even more meaningful.

If you’ve ever wanted an easy way to give back (and get your kids out of the house 😅), this is it. My kids love picking out the cake & pop combos!

Our April newsletter is out, and there’s a lot of fun packed in this month—Easter party, Earth Day crafts, playdate specials, and more. If you like to plan ahead (or just want to know what’s coming), the full calendar is in there.

We’re also doing a Hidden Egg Giveaway the first week of April 👀 We haven’t fully decided on prizes yet… but honestly, that might make it more fun.

Also—before anyone asks—that’s not some poor, unsuspecting dad posing with the Easter Bunny… that’s my nephew and he volunteered for the job 😂

Hey friends!

I’ve been asked a few times recently if That Play Place is closing, so I figured it’s best to just answer it here.

The short answer: Nope — not right now.

The longer answer is that when the time does come, it will likely be tied to the end of our lease. As soon as I have a firm end date, I promise you’ll hear it directly from me. I’ll post it everywhere, send emails, and give everyone as much notice as possible.

Since the question keeps coming up, I also want to say this:

I love this place. I built it very intentionally, and being part of this community has been one of the coolest experiences of my life. Through That Play Place we’ve been able to sponsor teams, support nonprofits, watch kids build confidence, see friendships form between both kids and parents, and welcome therapists who are doing incredible work with families.

I’ve learned a lot here too — from permits and payroll to building walls and picking out a paint sprayer. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together, especially with the help of my family and the amazing people around me.

The reality is that operating a space like this comes with a lot of costs, and sometimes the numbers just don’t line up the way you hope they will. From the beginning, my goal was to create a space over here that felt welcoming and accessible for families, and that’s always been more important to me than squeezing every dollar out of it.

That mission hasn’t changed.

For now, That Play Place is still here, still open, and still doing what we set out to do — giving kids a safe, fun place to play and giving parents a place to connect.

When the next chapter comes, you’ll hear it from me first.

Here’s what’s happening at That Play Place this week!

Don’t forget—Daylight Savings hits tonight. Yes, most phones update automatically… but if you’re anything like me, you’ll still question every clock in the house tomorrow morning.

Good news: we’ll still be opening at 9am tomorrow… even if it feels like 10.

The rest of the week is business as usual with Open Play, and don’t forget our Play Date special happening Friday during both morning and evening Open Play.
