Never Forget.

25 years ago today, I had just finished working at a Philadelphia television station and in between jobs. I remember watching the coverage after the first plane hit and then seeing the second plane hit the other tower live on television.

What I remember most was how incredibly quiet Philadelphia became that day. The planes were grounded, people inside watching the events on TV., eventually coming out onto their porches, lighting candles as a quiet show of unity while we all wondered what would happen next.

I eventually came back to Erie to fill in while the weather guy who was called to active duty. I did that for about 9 months before moving to Los Angeles.

How do you remember this day?

The pilot episode! A.K.A Season 1 Episode 1.

“Simone & John” is a short, sharp give-and-take about the behind-the-scenes world of TV news, the stories we covered, the people we met, the crazy moments viewers never saw and what life looks like from two different generations.

Gen X meets Millennial. Two former colleagues. Plenty of stories from behind the scenes.

We’re testing out the pilot and want to hear from you:

What should we call the series?
And what would you like to hear us talk about?

Today is the unofficial end of summer, and with so many of us celebrating Labor Day at barbecues, gatherings, and outings, it’s a good time to look back on the memories that made summer 2026 special.

So, what photo represents your summer?

Here’s mine: this awesome camel I met in Morocco. He was not only adorable, but incredibly gentle and friendly, definitely a summer memory I won’t forget. 🐪

Show me yours! Drop the photo that best represents your summer 2026 in the comments. 📸☀️I showed you mine, now show me yours. 🤭

Today is Meteorologist Kelly Roland last day at Erie News Now, and while I’m excited for her next chapter, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t going to miss having her around.

When I first called Kelly to welcome her to the team, I remember thinking, “Wow, she really doesn’t sound very excited about this.” 😂 Looking back, I’m pretty sure it was a combination of being anxious, nervous, excited, and probably wondering what she had gotten herself into with her first job.

Then came her first day, and somehow, it was an instant friendship. Maybe it was because she was Gen Z and I was Gen X which, honestly, should have made communication impossible. 😂 But somehow, it worked. She “canceled” me over a comment I made that will remain strictly between Kelly and me. Since I figured I had already been canceled, I decided I might as well say whatever I wanted from that point on! And like a trooper, Kelly quickly figured out my humor, understood what we were trying to accomplish with Weather, and became a huge part of making it fun.

Kelly is incredibly bright and talented. In my experience in this business, she has everything it takes to go as far as she wants and I have no doubt she will.

Kelly also came into my life at a time when I really needed some laughter. After the loss I had experienced shortly before she arrived, there were days when I jokingly called her “Emily’s replacement.” But through all the videos we made, the ridiculous moments, and the countless laughs, Kelly became her own special part of my life.

Every single night we worked together included literal out-loud from the gut laughter, and somehow those long evenings always seemed to go by a little faster because of it.

I eventually left to take on new challenges, but Kelly has stayed in touch with me along the way. And thankfully, this isn’t goodbye. We’re going to keep making videos for as long as we possibly can. It may be through distance now, but we’ll figure it out and make it work.

Kelly, I wish you nothing but good luck, happiness, and tremendous success in whatever comes next. You’re extremely talented, and I know you’re going to do great things.
