from BG: "We were heading on the park the other day and something caught my I, a mass in a group of vines near a tree. It was this raccoon eating the fruit that was mixed in this clump of vines. It was a rainy day, so the raccoon looks like a wet raccoon and this time of year it is normal to see them during daylight hours as they are looking for food. Enjoy Exploring."

This unique bird belonging to the Goatsucker family can be spotted in the early evening hours as it flies through the sky seeking out its prey, usually large moths. Here at Presque Isle, we have seen them in the month of May resting on a tree during the daytime and flying through the lagoons in the early evening hours. "

from RB: "As the waters around the peninsula start to warm up, many species of fish will be making their way into the bay and lagoons to spawn. This includes bluegill, pumpkinseed, largemouth bass, and smallmouth bass to name a few.
One of the unique fish that can be seen in the shallows are spotted gar. This ambush predator waits in the weeds for its prey to swim by. They are a prehistoric fish having been around for millions of years. "

These curious Wild Turkey stopped by the TREC Natural Play Space to investigate the seeds falling to the ground. Turkeys are excellent foragers and will happily take advantage of an easy snack. Sometimes the wildlife you least expect shows up first!
