Rest in Peace Sir

With deepest sorrow and heavy hearts, the Rayne Police Department announces the tragic loss of Lieutenant Allen “Noochie” Credeur, age 48, who was killed in the line of duty on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 1:27 PM while executing a search warrant related to a violent crime.

During the operation, officers were attempting to locate a suspect in a recent stabbing incident. Lt. Credeur was struck by friendly fire and, despite immediate medical attention, succumbed to his injuries on the scene. This devastating accident has shaken the entire department and community.

Lt. Credeur began his career in law enforcement as a reserve officer with the Rayne Police Department in December 2003 and went full-time in 2005. Over the past two decades, he became a pillar of this agency and of the City of Rayne. In 2014, he took on the role of D.A.R.E. officer, dedicating himself to educating and mentoring the youth of our community. He also spent countless hours over the years volunteering with local youth athletics—coaching, mentoring, and leading by example both on and off duty.

Lt. Credeur was more than an officer; he was a brother, a friend, and a role model. He served with pride, humility, and an unmatched sense of duty. He had a special way of connecting with people—especially young people—and was truly invested in making Rayne a safer, stronger place to live.

We ask that the public keep his family, especially his fiancé Danielle Demette, his brother Sgt. Joseph Credeur, his colleagues, and officers in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

An investigation is underway, and we are cooperating with LSP to fully examine the circumstances of this tragic event.

Details regarding funeral arrangements and memorial services will be provided as soon as they are finalized.

Lt. Credeur’s legacy of service, compassion, and leadership will never be forgotten. He gave this city everything he had—and we are forever grateful.

Chief Carroll Stelly

𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬
𝐄𝐍𝐃 𝐎𝐅 𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇: 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟑, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 💙🖤

Sheriff Randy Smith and the men and women of the STPSO are heartbroken to share that we are suffering an unimaginable loss. Early this morning, Sergeant Grant Candies was killed in the line of duty while attempting to deploy spike strips on Interstate 10 near the Oak Harbor exit. The perpetrator, fleeing from a pursuit, struck him, taking the life of a husband, a father, a Marine, a mentor, and a true leader among his peers.

Sergeant Candies was the kind of deputy every agency hopes to have. He spent five years on active duty in the United States Marine Corps, three years on inactive duty, and carried that same dedication and discipline into his career in law enforcement when he joined the STPSO in 2016. “𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙩" is a principle he carried into his role as a Field Training Officer in the Criminal Patrol Division. To him, training new deputies wasn’t just about teaching tactics, but it was about shaping them into the kind of deputies who serve with integrity, courage, and compassion.

His path to law enforcement was one of fate and devotion to his family, to his community, and to a calling greater than himself. Originally from Luling, Sergeant Candies grew up watching his father serve with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office for over 30 years. Though he once dreamed of becoming a Marine Corps pilot, meeting his wife, Courtney, at Southeastern Louisiana State University changed his trajectory. Love anchored him here, in St. Tammany Parish, where he chose to serve and protect the place his family calls home.

More than anything…Grant was a family man. He and Courtney built a beautiful life together, raising their two children, Brenna and Bryson, with the same values he carried every day, strength, kindness, and unwavering commitment. Whether he was teaching his kids how to hunt and fish, working on their small farm, or simply enjoying time together, he was the kind of dad every kid deserves…the fun kind, the protective kind, the kind who made sure his family knew they were loved beyond measure.

Grant never did this job for recognition, but his leadership spoke volumes. He was named Deputy of the Year for 2023, and true to his humble nature, his response was simple: “When my team succeeds, I have succeeded.” He didn’t care about titles or awards. He cared about people, about doing the right thing, and about making a difference.

So, while we grieve, we also honor. We remember a man who lived with purpose, who led with strength, and who left behind a legacy that won’t be forgotten. His laughter, his wisdom, his drive…they will carry on in the deputies he mentored, in the family he adored, and in the community he gave his life to protect.

Rest easy, Sergeant Candies. Your watch may have ended, but your impact will never fade.

End of Watch: March 23, 2025 💙🖤💙

So now I’m being stalked by Facebook Meta. The Allen M Bares Memorial Page and the VP32 Cooking Crew are both being threatened for deletion. I don’t post on those too much anymore due to my posts getting deleted. Now they say something bad posted to each one on different days but will not let me know what it was. Not very professional…

Know his name AND his story :

💔 R.I.P. Dallas Police Officer Darron Burks #12543: A Legacy of Service, Love, and Sacrifice 💔

The world lost a truly remarkable soul in Officer Darron Burks, #12543, on the night of August 29, 2024. Officer Burks, a man whose life was defined by service, love, and unwavering dedication to his community, was tragically murdered in the line of duty at approximately 10:00 PM. His loss is felt deeply by all who knew him and by the broader community he served with such passion and integrity.

Just a few months ago, on December 15, 2023, Darron proudly walked across the stage to receive his badge, marking the start of a new chapter in his life—a chapter he eagerly embraced with the excitement and humility that those who knew him had come to expect. His social media post from December 13, 2023, captured that joy and anticipation:

"Isolation + Elevation = Graduation. After 17 years in Education by God's Grace, I resigned my position as a Math Teacher at the end of February 2023. I prayed and asked God First if I could pursue a different career. I have never thought about this new opportunity. God opened the DOORS on March 1. Ten months later, after 13 tests, a Final Exam, and a STATE OF TEXAS CERTIFICATION TEST, I will be graduating DECEMBER 15, 2023. Only By God’s Grace. The thing I’m really excited about is that they are allowing a family member to walk with you across the stage. LET'S GO MOM."

Darron’s excitement for his new path was palpable, and he carried that same spirit into his role as a police officer. But tragically, his journey was cut short far too soon. On Thursday night, Officer Burks was found murdered in his patrol car, robbed of the chance to defend himself, and taken from a community that needed him, a family that loved him, and colleagues who respected him deeply.

In the same tragic event, two other officers were also wounded. One remains in critical condition, fighting for their life, while the other is expected to recover. These officers were injured during a confrontation with the suspect, who was later fatally shot after a high-speed chase.

Those who knew Darron remember him as a quietly spoken man who dedicated his life to bettering himself, not for personal gain, but so he could pour his strength and wisdom back into his community. A former youth coach, teacher, and recently an officer, Darron’s life was about service and uplifting others. The outpouring of grief from those who knew him is a testament to the man he was.

One friend, struggling with the loss, expressed his heartbreak and frustration:

"I'm pretty angry this morning. I'm holding back tears while I'm writing this. I woke up to the news that a friend of mine that I went to college with was murdered last night. Darron Burks was a quietly spoken man who spent his entire life sharpening himself. He did so in order to pour himself out into his community. He was rewarded for this by the universe by being found dead, murdered in his own squad car without a fight. He wasn’t even granted the opportunity to die exchanging gunfire with the worthless parasite who killed him."

Another friend shared their deep sorrow:

“My heart is so heavy. Darron Burks, you will be missed immensely. You didn’t deserve to go like that, and I will cry my eyes out every time I think about this. You loved this job, and you loved your mama. I promise we got it from here. #12543"

The loss of Darron Burks has left a void in the hearts of many—a man who gave his all in every role he took on, from educator to protector. He was a brother, a friend, a mentor, and above all, a man who loved his community.

The Dallas Police Department and nearby agencies, including the Fort Worth Police, gathered to show their support for the fallen officer, reminding us all of the close bonds and the collective grief that comes when one of their own is taken too soon.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Darron Burks' family, his friends, his colleagues, and the countless lives he touched. His legacy of service and love will not be forgotten.

Rest in peace, Officer Darron Burks #12543.
We will carry your light forward.

Stay alert and informed, neighbors!
