Busy Week For The Volunteers!

Members organized numerous events and responded to the following calls for service - Auto aid for 2 reported building fires, 1 working skid steer fire, 1 trash fire out of control.

Members provided coverage for Walnuttown Fire and Rescue on Tuesday during the day, conducted the monthly business meeting in the evening and then set up for the community auction. Wednesday morning members demonstrated a fire safety presentation for a local homeschool group with the assistance from Garden Spot Fire Rescue (GSFR39). Wednesday evening the first donation auction was held, the second one is Wednesday April 15th, in the evening.

-Engine Company Training with Bowmansville Fire Company station 33 -

Last evening, members from Martindale and Bowmansville came together for an evening of Engine Company drills at an acquired structure. Crews from both agencies focused on stretching and advancing handlines, pump operations, and coordinated fireground operations.

Training side by side like this strengthens our ability to work together efficiently when it matters most. We appreciate the opportunity to train with our neighboring departments and continue building those relationships.

Tonight the Martindale Volunteers traveled to New Holland EMS for a refresher on CPR, AED use, and basic first aid. The Bareville and Upper Leacock Volunteers attended as well, making it a great evening of training and teamwork.

A big thank you to Paramedic Fisher of New Holland EMS for taking the time to review these life saving skills with us. Even for responders, regular refreshers are important. CPR is one of those skills you hope you never need, but when you do, seconds truly matter.

Cardiac arrest can happen anywhere, at home, at work, at church, or at a ball game. Early CPR and early defibrillation with an AED greatly increase survival rates. The more people in our Lancaster County community who know CPR, the safer we all are.

We also encourage everyone in Lancaster County to download the PulsePoint app. PulsePoint is a free app that alerts trained citizens when someone nearby is experiencing a cardiac arrest in a public place. It can direct you to the closest AED and give you the opportunity to begin CPR before EMS arrives. Those first few minutes can truly make the difference between life and death.
Strong partnerships. Strong training. Strong community. PulsePoint Foundation - Bareville Fire Company- Upper Leacock Fire Company - New Holland Ambulance

Pumper -Tanker 03 Returns To Service

Our Pierce Pumper -Tanker has officially returned to service after undergoing extensive repairs from the crash damage sustained last spring. The repairs were completed by Pierce Mfg and we are grateful for the quality workmanship and attention to detail that went into restoring this vital piece of apparatus.

Deputy Chief Nolt and Assistant Chief Brubaker traveled to Weyauwega Wisconsin to complete the final inspection at the Pierce facility and ensure everything met our expectations before it made the trip home. Their time on site allowed us to thoroughly review the repairs and confirm the truck was ready to return to operational status.

Once back at the station our membership put in many hours reloading equipment, checking tools, testing pumps, and making sure every detail was squared away. Thanks to hard work and dedication the Pumper -Tanker was officially placed back in service tonight. We are thankful that the expected completion time became much shorter than originally projected.

No plans have been made regarding the 1986 Hahn Pumper-Tanker at this time.
