September 9th we will be hosting a little history happy hour with wine and refreshments provided by . Tickets available through with a limited number of spots available - come hang out!! I’ll open up all the cabins so this will also be a chance to see the troll room which is so rarely visited!

It’s been a summer full of projects and I neglected to make a single post! None of it is finished, but massive progress on windows, the kitchen, the upstairs bath, and the workroom in the Troll House. Most of it will remain unfinished until the spring but I’m plugging away at it until the end of the month - windows at the very least need to get back on the cabin 😅😅

I found this cloth calendar in a trunk here, which I was then able to find in an old photo. It’s returned to where it originally hung probably for the first time since 1967. I’ve been forced to make many tough decisions on what goes where because there is plainly too much stuff for the cottage, but returning objects to their original spot is the most satisfying. It’s unbelievably fortunate so many of these little things were kept with the cottage and withstood the test of time!
(The original lamp and picture above the desk are also still here but in storage and in need of repair, the desk remains where it’s always been)

Has anyone heard of Century House Pottery in Madison? Now a furniture store, the business made pottery from 1948-1963 which included rosemaling designs along side very contemporary as well as realistically painted motifs. published the only existing research I could find, any chance some of the rosemaling community has come across the work?

Big news: we bought a house! We bought Mr. Fishers unit in Fisher Studios, an art moderne landmark in downtown Chicago. It was built by architect Andrew Rebori and artist Edgar Miller in 1936/37. Better yet, it’s fully renovated by talented architects so I can get back to work on Binkhaven’s restoration once I’m done with my masters program. While nothing needs repair, the interior will be a total blank slate which is so exciting as there is nothing I love more than interior design. More images to come in a few months as the previous owners are leasing it back while I finish my semester in New York and they complete renovations on their new place!

Wishing I were at Binkhaven as the snow has already turned to muck in the city! Just one more semester and we’ll get back to projects. I have a *huge* new project I’m dying to share but have to wait a few weeks to finalize it before I can!!
