An update to last week’s meeting: according to the opinion/interpretation of a statute by the school’s lawyer, Christy and I will not be able to vote in tonight’s meeting.

The board has made the decision to delay the vote until tonight, so both Clay and Tommy will be present, and so the sixth candidate, Tyler Beauchamp, can be interviewed.

I am looking forward to being on the board! I encourage the community to continue to be involved by attending meetings. I plan on keeping this page open as a means of communication, and I also welcome people to message me on here or call me with any concerns or questions.

At this point, the only way this vote can be delayed until the regular schedule meeting, a meeting where a complete and balanced board can vote on the vacancy, is if people call the superintendent and each and every board member to voice opposition to this special meeting.

As it is said below, the district needs to be brought together, the staff needs a boost in morale. By calling a last-minute meeting in which both several current board members and newly elected members cannot attend/vote, and where not all of the candidates are even able to attend, it is causing more distrust in the board, and more conflict in the community.

Flood their phones today. Let them know that you want a board that is for the people, by the people, and request that the candidate interviews and votes take place in the regularly scheduled meeting on April 15.

Today (4/9) it was announced that the Board would be voting on the replacement for the vacancy in a special board meeting tomorrow (4/10). I want to be transparent and share my thoughts on this with the public.

It was decided at the last special meeting that the next board meeting would be the regularly scheduled meeting on April 15th. At that time, the election had not yet happened, so Christy and I were not on the board.

It was only AFTER the official election results were shared on Friday that Danuser (board president) decided to call a special meeting. Again, this was scheduled only AFTER it was evident that Hunter would not retain her seat on the board, and would, therefore, not be voting in the regularly scheduled meeting, that this meeting was called.

Danuser scheduled this meeting without first consulting with other board members on dates and times they were available. Tommy Beauchamp cannot attend, as he is out of town. It is also unlikely that Clay will be able to attend, as he has a prior obligation he will be attending.

The candidates who put their names in for the vacancy were not even notified about the meeting until Monday evening at 4pm (yes, only two days before the special meeting would take place). They were told that if they could not be there to be interviewed, then they would not even be considered for the vacancy. As it stands, at least one candidate has told me that they will not be able to make it, as they only had not even two full days to rearrange their schedule for this last minute meeting.

Then today, they announced in their agenda, which is attached below, that not only would they be interviewing the candidates, but they are going to go ahead and vote on them, too.

This entire situation is extremely unethical.

First of all, instead of waiting to vote on the vacancy replacement until the two candidates who you, the public, has elected (Christy and myself), they are trying to rush in the vote so Hunter can vote. Like I stated above, at the last special meeting, they said the next meeting would the regularly scheduled meeting on the 15th. Why rush it now?

Two, it isn't fair to the candidates. With it being such a last-minute meeting, it isn't fair that they are voting this Wednesday without giving them the chance to rearrange their schedules for an interview.

And it isn't fair to the public that you will now have an inaccurate representation with both Tommy and Clay likely being absent, and your newly elected candidates not being given a say in the matter.

Lastly, I want to make it known that one of the candidates is a next-door neighbor to Mark Harvey. It has been said that their families are very close, so close that they farm together and vacation together. This same candidate (Mark Liana) has previously served on the board, but resigned shortly after his son did not get hired at vo-tech. Why does he now want to be appointed? Why did he resign? Does he have the ability to work with others? Would he recuse himself or abstain on anything related to Harvey, because isn't their relationship a conflict of interest?

It is so important that people show up to the meeting tomorrow. Only you all are able to voice objection at this point. Let the community know what is going on!

The final vote counts, though technically still unofficial until Monday, are in.

Thank you, The Louisiana Press-Journal, for providing coverage and keeping the community informed in a fair and professional matter!

All 188 write-in votes found Wednesday in the race for the Pike County R-III Board of Education were cast for Greg Talbert, widening his lead in the race. On election night, the unofficial tally produced by the County Clerk’s office suggested that Talbert earned only 13 votes in the Prarieville pr...

I’m completely humbled by everyone’s support that led to me being voted back on the school board. The last few weeks have been somewhat crazy, but God is sovereign. I am grateful for the chance to continue to serve this community and school that I am so fond of, and I will continue to strive to represent your voice to the Board of Education. Thank you, again!

Greg Talbert will return to the Pike County R-III Board of Education, based on unofficial results released by the Lincoln County Clerk Thursday afternoon. Talbert received 90 of the 96 write-in votes in the Lincoln County. Those results, and the results released so far in Pike County, are unofficial...

Several people have contacted me after they had looked over the election results and discovered a discrepancy with the numbers. After making a visit to the courthouse yesterday afternoon, I was informed that not all the write-in ballots for me had been counted in Eolia. The missing ballots have been discovered and the official results will shared tomorrow. For more information, feel free to check out the attached article.

As many as 188 write-in ballots were cast in Tuesday’s election but not reported on election night, the County Clerk’s office has discovered. These newly found ballots, which will be counted Thursday afternoon, could determine the result of a write-in campaign for the Pike County R-III Board of ...

For those following the results of the election, we will be waiting until Monday for the final vote count.

In the meantime, I want to congratulate Christy K***z for Clopton School Board on securing a spot in the Board of Education! I am confident that Christy has the knowledge and wisdom to help make decisions that will better our school.

I will keep everyone updated when I find out the final results!

Thanks,

Greg

All precincts have reported the results from the Tuesday, April 2 election, but one race — a heated contest for a seat on the Pike County R-III Board of Education — remains unresolved. The success of a write-in campaign by ousted board member Greg Talbert may hinge on the votes cast in a small p...

Thank you to all who have supported me through all of the recent events and through my race as a write-in candidate. While the results are still being counted, regardless of what happens, I want you to know how humbled I am from the tremendous amount of encouragement I have received. I’m proud to be a Hawk and I am proud to know to many great and caring people!

Who all are early risers and have already voted?!

Both Christy and I will be at the polls as soon as we are off work and we have some of our supporters there this morning. We’ll see you there! 👍🏻

Tomorrow is Election Day! Please inform everyone you know that I am a write-in candidate and would appreciate your vote. It's extremely difficult to win as a write-in, but with my town rallied around me, I know a victory is possible.

I will continue to be a voice for the students, teachers, and community, regardless of tomorrow's results.

Both Christy K***z for Clopton School Board and I will see you tomorrow at the polls!

I want to thank everyone who came out to the Meet and Greet with the school board candidates. Also, thanks to the CTA for putting it on for the public! It is good for voters to be able to hear the candidate's platforms before they hit the polls.

A lot of people have been asking me what is the correct way to write-in my full name on the ballot. On Monday at the meet-and-greet, I passed out some hand-outs that include part of a sample ballot that demonstrates the correct way to write my name in.

I'm attaching the hand-out below for those of you who didn't get a handout. When I registered with the court, the official way that I listed my name is GREG TALBERT. So if you would like to vote for me, that is also how it needs to be written!

Thanks, again!

When your sister owns a photo/film business, she insists that a campaign video is the way to go. It gets even better when your goofy brother-in-law suggests to say at the end, "I approve of this message!"

In all seriousness, please remember to spread the word of me being a write-in candidate. If you support me in representing your values on the Board, make every vote count!

-Greg
