City of Enumclaw, Washington Enumclaw is located in western Washington State, approximately 45 miles southeast of Seattle, and is the “Gateway” to the north entrances to Mt.

In 1879 Frank and Mary Stevenson homesteaded what is now the center o

f town. Early settlers called this area “Stevensonville,” but the name later changed to Enumclaw (which means "thundering noise") after Enumclaw Mountain near town. Enumclaw was platted on October 31, 1885, when the railroad decided to come through this area, and was incorporated on January 27, 1913. Geography
Enumclaw is situated at an elevation of 750 feet above sea level in a pastoral setting between plateau farmlands and the Cascade Mountains. The City of Enumclaw encompasses an area of 5.1 square miles. Its beautiful homes with their well-kept yards contribute to the community being one of the most attractive in King County. The surrounding plateau, with a population of more than 40,000, is one of the largest thoroughbred horse breeding and boarding areas in the United States. Attractions

The City of Enumclaw's 2026 Concerts in the Park Series returns Thursday evenings beginning July 9 and continuing every Thursday through August 27 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Rotary Centennial Park, located at 1580 Railroad Street.

Make plans now to spend your summer evenings in the heart of downtown Enumclaw. Start your evening by visiting the Farmers Market, enjoy dinner at one of our local restaurants, tasting rooms, or breweries, then head to the park for free live entertainment in a beautiful outdoor setting.

The current recruitment will run from June 5, 2026 through July 5, 2026 with oral boards tentatively scheduled for mid-July.

The Enumclaw Police Department provides 24-hour law enforcement support to the City of Enumclaw. The Police Department currently has 36 employees covering the Patrol, Investigations, Communications and Corrections divisions. Our mission is to provide quality, professional, effective, and proactive law enforcement in partnership with the community to ensure a safe and secure environment in which to live, work and visit.

The City of Enumclaw continuously accepts applications for Lateral and Experienced Level Police Officers. At this time, we are establishing a continuous eligibility list. Successful candidates must hold a current peace officer certification and have been employed as a Police Officer within the past two years. Those applicants whose qualifications most closely correspond to the department’s current needs will be contacted via email (or phone if no email) to participate in the oral board process when scheduled. The city sends no formal notification to applicants who are not selected to continue in our process.

Position: Temporary Seasonal Worker-Gas Department
Closing Date: Open until filled

The City of Enumclaw, Washington currently has an opening for a Temporary Seasonal Worker in the Gas Department.

This position reports directly to a Department Manager or his/her designee(s) depending upon tasks. Employees occupying the position will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties requested by a supervisor. While requirements may be representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and abilities to perform this job successfully, the employee will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty with average proficiency.

This is a temporary, non-benefited, full-time, Fair Labor Standards Act overtime non-exempt position, lasting no more than 90 days or 5 months depending on the appointment.

The duration will be July 1 - August 31, the shift will be Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm.

The salary is $17.13 - $21.07/hr depending on experience.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
-16 years of age
-Education equivalent to the completion of 10th grade
-Any experience, education, or training which would provide the level of knowledge and ability desired.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
-Valid Washington State Driver's License clear of accidents, tickets, etc.
