On June 9, 2026, Defendant Sean Williamson appeared in the Circuit Court of Coffee County for a plea hearing on multiple charges to include two counts of R**e 1st Degree, two counts of So**my 1st Degree, and six counts of S*x Abuse of a Child Under 12. The State was represented by Assistant District Attorney Kylie Crespo. Court was presided over by Circuit Judge Henry “Sonny” Reagan.

Defendant Williamson was accused of sexually abusing and assaulting the 9-year-old daughter of his then-girlfriend. The abuse was discovered when the victim came forward to her mother and told her mother about the ongoing abuse. The victim was seen at a local hospital and later interviewed at the Southeast Child Advocacy Center in Dothan. Defendant Williamson turned himself in to the Dothan Police Department and was later transferred to the custody of the Elba Police Department.

Based upon the victim’s interview and multiple interviews with Defendant Williamson, investigators were able to determine that Defendant Williamson had been sexually abusing the victim for a number of months. In addition, based on Defendant Williamson’s own statements, it was determined that he had r***d and sodomized the victim on at least two separate occasions. Defendant Williamson had been held without bond pursuant to Aniah’s Law since his arrest.

By agreement with the District Attorney’s Office, Defendant Williamson was sentenced to 40 years in the Alabama Department of Corrections. This sentence is day-for-day and cannot be paroled and Defendant Williamson will not be eligible for any type of early release. When Defendant Williamson is released from custody, he will be subject to 10 years of post-release supervision and will be required to comply with all aspects of the Alabama S*x Offender Registration and Notification Act.

District Attorney James Tarbox stated, “I was disgusted when I was originally called about his case and I remain disgusted at the conduct of Defendant Williamson and how he took advantage of a child that should have been able to trust him. I will never think that 40 years is enough for what he admitted to and has now entered a plea of guilty to, but I must also continue to consider the well-being of our minor child victim. She has been victimized enough and if our office can obtain a stiff sentence while ensuring she does not have to relive these horrific events in a courtroom full of strangers, I will make the decision to settle a case like this every time.”

The District Attorney’s Office thanks the Elba Police Department, Dothan Police Department, and the Southeast Child Advocacy Center for their work in investigating this matter and helping to hold Defendant Williamson accountable.
