Some hikes make you stop in your tracks. Chimney Lake is one of them. ⛰️

Tucked into the Eagle Cap Wilderness near Joseph, this challenging alpine hike winds through forests and rugged mountain terrain before revealing crystal-clear water and towering Wallowa peaks.

Before you go:
- Expect steep sections and elevation gain
- Bring plenty of water and layers
- Check trail and wildfire conditions before heading out

Looking for more hikes nearby? Ice Lake, Aneroid Lake, Hurricane Creek and the East Moraine Trail all offer incredible Wallowa Mountain views.

The Wallowa Mountains are home to hundreds of miles of trails, including iconic routes just outside Joseph like Ice Lake, Hurricane Creek Trail and Eagle Cap Summit, along with more accessible options like East Moraine Trail. Most higher elevation trails are still snow covered in mid May, so now is the time to start planning for summer, check conditions and choose the right trail for your visit.

Still thinking about last night! ✨

The turnout for Seeing Main Street in a Whole New Light – Lighting Workshop & Tour was another powerful reminder of what’s possible when our community shows up together.

So many business owners, property owners, and community members came out after hours to learn and explore how we can make our downtowns even stronger.

The fabulous consultants from FrontdoorBack, Retail Design & Visual Merchandising showed us how lighting might seem like a small detail, but it plays a big role in how a place feels - impacting safety, vibrancy, and how long people choose to stay downtown. Getting to walk through Joseph together and see these ideas in action brought it all to life.

If you see our team out and about, please be sure to congratulate them! This has been a big week of events and coordination.

Jenny Hawkins, Terri Hall, Craig Pesti-Strobel, and Deena Mcfetridge absolutely CRUSHED IT! 🙌
