Fort Rucker has an amazing history. From Indians living on the grounds to being a WWII prisoner facility.
Camp Rucker, Westville, etc.
Few people realize that Fort Rucker encompasses many thousands of acres encompassed within Dale and Coffee counties—mostly Dale. Even fewer realize that before the Army installation became a post, prior to World War II, the area was made up of pre Civil War-era farming communities complete with commerce, churches and citizens—lots of them—alive and deceased. So what happened to all of those families who lived in or near the village of Westville? What happened to its people, its churches, its cemeteries?
Haunting are experienced at cemeteries, in housing, at the stables, it’s incredible.
