Vaughn Comeau, Attorney at Law I offer legal services in northern Vermont, largely focusing on real estate, estate planning and probate matters.

I am running for Probate Judge in Franklin County in 2018.

Sara here. We’ve picked up most of the yard signs we could find. If you have any, please let us know. We can pick them up, or you are welcome to drop them off at our home or office.

We had permission from supporters for the placement of all of Vaughn’s signs, so we’ve been able to target the pick-up. That said, it looks like over 100 of are missing. 1/2-2/3 of what we put out might have been “disappeared” (a large number around St Albans, Highgate, and Swanton). So, if you have any leads on where we can find them, we’ll certainly them back. Aside from the cost, trashing all that plastic is a terrible waste!

Thanks for your help!

I’m sure you’ve all heard by now that I did not win the election.

Sara and I thank you for all the support we received, especially from those who stood out in the wind and cold on Election Day.

I took on this role to serve the community and it’s been my honor to do so over the last four years.

Here’s a nice reminder for Election Day of why re-electing Vaughn is the right choice! Mary Wright was a clerk and registrar in the probate court for 28 years. She knows what it takes to be probate judge and she chooses Vaughn. (as published in the St Albans Messenger 11/2)

Let’s get moooooooving! She can’t vote, but you can! Enjoy this sunny day and Re-Elect Vaughn!!!!

The Committee to Re-Elect Vaughn Comeau received this thoughtful letter from Warren C. Hamm, Jr., RADM, US Navy (Ret.):

This letter is in full support for Vaughn Comeau in his running for Probate Court Judge. I was most pleased to support him for this position last time. Vaughn is certainly an asset to your community. The reports I have received relative to his performance have been most positive. Why would you want to change a proven winner? Vote for Vaughn!

Warm Regards,
Warrant C. Hamm Jr.

Thank you to everyone for all your support and well-wishes in this final stretch of voting!

Here’s another group of supporters the “Committee to Re-Elect Vaughn Comeau” asked me to share.

Did you see this editorial from Vaughn’s predecessor, Larry Bruce, retired Franklin Probate Judge 2007-2019?

As he says: Vaughn is “exceptionally knowledgeable and well acquainted with the complexities of probate law and procedure” and “full time versus part time [as argued by Vaughn’s competitor] is irrelevant and a non-issue, little more than a good sound bite.”

Vote for Vaughn!

Thank you, Louise LaBombard, for this editorial in the St Albans Messenger yesterday!

The nicest part of campaigning, both for this re-election and my first campaign in 2018, has been the kind words of support and encouragement from friends, clients, people like Louise who watched me grow up in Swanton, and even from people I never knew before.

Thank you, Dick Thompson, for these important reminders about skill, competency, and availability. It is absolutely true that probate judge is “not a job with a time clock to be punched, but rather is a public service to which as much time as necessary must be dedicated.”

Since I was sworn in as Franklin County Probate Judge in February 2019, the court has been my #1 priority.

Prior judges may not have kept their private practices, but they did not find it necessary to work full time in the court, either (see editorial by retired judge Larry Bruce-posted Wed 10/26).

I am dedicated to continuing to serve as an attorney for many years to come in a region where it is much needed. AND, I have the skills, experience, and support staff to run a private practice and make the court my 1st priority.

Thank you to the “Committee to Re-Elect Vaughn Comeau” for gathering this sampling of supporters. (As published in the S...

Thank you to Larry Bruce, retired attorney and retired Franklin Probate Judge 2007-2019 (aka Vaughn’s predecessor who has experience with both candidates). He has shone a light on the crux of this campaign. Vaughn is “exceptionally knowledgeable and well acquainted with the complexities of probate law and procedure” and “full time versus part time [as argued by Vaughn’s competitor] is irrelevant and a non-issue, little more than a good sound bite.” It’s time to re-elect Vaughn!
