The City of Ennis Streets Department has closed South Kaufman Street at the 2700 block due to a downed power line. Oncor has been notified and is responding. In the meantime, traffic is being detoured:

📍Southbound traffic: Village Rd. to the southbound I‑45 Service Road
📍 Northbound traffic: Hwy 85 to the northbound I‑45 Service Road

Please use caution in the area and follow all posted detours.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, our crews have identified a larger area highlighted on the map are now affected by water interruptions.

đźš§Upcoming Road Closure đźš§

Road closures will begin tomorrow, June 25, 2026, at 7 a.m. and will continue throughout the day for utility work associated with the Texas Department of Transportation Underpass Project.

📍Areas include Ennis Ave. and S. Breckenridge St.

Please follow all posted traffic control and detour signs. If you have any questions, contact Public Works Utility Operations at 972‑975‑1906.

Atmos Energy Maintenance Notice

Atmos Energy has notified the City of Ennis that routine system maintenance will take place near 744 FM 984 between June 23 and July 2, generally between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

As part of this work, there will be a controlled and safe release of natural gas. Residents in the area may notice a natural gas odor during these scheduled activities. Atmos Energy crews will be on‑site throughout the process.

This information is being shared to keep our community aware of planned activity in the area.

📢 City Holiday Closure – Juneteenth

All City offices will be closed Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of Juneteenth.

There will be no trash service on this day. If your regular trash pick‑up falls on June 19th, you may place up to three extra bags curbside on your next scheduled collection day.

For water or sewer emergencies, please call 972‑875‑1234 and follow the prompts to reach an operator.

The community is invited to the 3rd Annual Juneteenth Parade and Festival, beginning at 10:00 AM at Roger & Maise Park. Enjoy a day of history, music, and celebration! This event is proudly presented by Unity In The Community of Ennis .

All leaks have been repaired. We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as our crews worked to complete these repairs.

âś… Update:
As of 10:15 a.m. CT, crews are beginning to shut off water in order to complete the final repair on Bremond St.

âś… Update:

Washington St.: Repairs have been completed.

E. Bremond St.: The main was found to have two major breaks. One has been repaired, and crews are working as quickly as possible to complete the second.

1000 Block of N. Kaufman St.: A crew has arrived and is preparing to begin work.

At this time, estimated restoration times are still unknown. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and we will continue to provide updates.

Crews are currently making repairs on Washington St. Residents in
that area should expect a temporary water service interruption while work is underway.

A new major leak has also been reported on E. Bremond St. Public Works crews are enroute to begin repairs, and a water interruption is expected in the affected area.

At this time, estimated restoration times for both locations are unknown. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and we will continue to provide updates.

Residents and businesses within a three‑block radius may experience temporary water service interruptions. Public Works crews are on site and working to complete repairs as quickly and safely as possible.

📣 The City of Ennis will NOT conduct a test of the Outdoor Warning Sirens today, due to gray skies overhead.

Normally, these tests are scheduled for the first Wednesday of each month at noon. Today, the sirens will remain silent during normal testing times if adverse weather conditions are present.

What are Outdoor Warning Sirens (OWS)? Outdoor Warning Sirens are part of our emergency alert system designed to warn residents about imminent dangers such as severe weather, tornadoes, and other emergencies.

Stay connected and sign up for emergency notifications from the City of Ennis at https://www.ennistx.gov/EmergencyNotifications.

You can also prepare for emergencies by checking on your NOAA weather radios, shelter locations, and disaster supplies.

Please remember that this is just a test of our systems and is not a reason to call 911.
