A water leak has been reported in the 1100 block of Mount Vernon. Crews were repairing a small leak when a section of the pipe ruptured, resulting in a larger leak.

Residents in the area from Yorkstown Dr. to Charlottesville Dr. may experience water outages while repairs are underway.

Crews are working diligently to fix the ruptured pipe and restore service as quickly as possible.

The City of Ennis is seeking passionate community members to serve on the Ennis Main Street Board. This is your chance to help shape the future of our historic downtown.

The purpose of the board is to develop and oversee programs for economic vitality, design, organization, and promotion within the Main Street program area. Our vision is that the historic downtown Ennis will be recognized in the surrounding area as a destination for exciting social, cultural and educational experiences for residents and visitors. The mission is to improve the business and cultural climate of Ennis while maintaining and preserving its historic structures and cityscape. This will be achieved by organizing corporate and civic leadership to develop solutions to the problems that affect our downtown core and its impact on the region’s completeness and visibility.

City crews are responding to a water leak in the 5700 block of Lakeview Drive.

Residents in the 5700 block of Lakeview Drive and along Observation Drive may experience a water service interruption. Crews will confirm whether an outage is necessary once the water line is exposed.

Road Closure: South Lakeview Drive from the 5700 block to Ward Street is currently closed while crews complete repairs.

Crews are working to minimize service disruptions. Repairs are expected to take approximately 4–6 hours.

Atmos Energy has isolated the leak. All roadways are reopening except South McKinney from Crockett St. to Milam St. will remain closed until further notice.

Please continue to follow all instructions from emergency personnel and remain clear of the area for your safety.

Emergency Notification: Gas Main Leak

The City of Ennis Fire Department and Police Department have closed a two‑block radius near 200 Milam and Crockett St due to a gas main leak. Fire Department crews are actively evacuating the area. Please avoid the area until further notice.

Atmos Energy is on site and working to shut off the gas.

Please follow all instructions from emergency personnel and remain clear of the area for your safety.

All City offices will be closed Monday September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day.

There will be no trash service on Monday, September 7. If your regular trash pickup falls on Sept. 7, you may place up to three extra bags curbside on your next scheduled collection day.

For water or sewer emergencies, please call 972 -875 -1234 and follow the prompts to reach an operator.

Utility bills may still be paid online at https://xpressbillpay.com/ #/?org=ennis11185, by phone at 833-622-3316 or using the night drop box.
