Exciting news for our regions! Northern Oklahoma Development Authority - NODA Oklahoma Economic Development Authority- OEDA
We’re excited to share that we have expanded the reach of a grant that is trying an innovative approach to addressing transportation barriers for WIC.
WIC participants who live in the following counties are now eligible to participate in the program: Alfalfa, Beckham, Blaine, Custer, Dewey, Harmon, Harper, Garfield, Grant, Jackson, Jefferson, Kay, Kingfisher, Kiowa, Major, Noble, Roger Mills, Stephens, Tillman, Wash*ta, Woods, Woodward
Rides/ride reimbursements are available for:
*WIC appointments
*Two grocery store trips per month to the participant’s nearest WIC-approved vendor.
Another Update:
We are now reimbursing an automatic minimum of $20 for travel under 28 miles...Anything over 28 miles is still $.70 a mile!!!!!
How It Works:
1. If a WIC participant/applicant has transportation needs, go to the "Find a Ride" tab at http://okwic.org/ and select "Get ride help"
------or--------Call Mobility Navigator to verify trip eligibility each trip (see flyer below)
2. A voucher number will be issued for each trip (so they must call each time) to be used on the Mileage Reimbursement Trip Log and Invoice if using personal vehicle or someone is driving them. **If client needs public transportation, it will be arranged for them depending on availability of the local transit.
3. Client will need to get the Mileage Reimbursement Trip Log and Invoice sheet...copies can be emailed or picked up at local Health Department. They can also be mailed to clients if needed. (**Copies are allowed of form)
4. They will fill out form and get signatures. Completed form can be mailed, emailed, faxed, etc. to the Mobility Navigator
5. Payment will be reimbursed **Payments will be sent to driver!!
